Amazing

Just watched it.

What an amazing film. I have never felt the essence in the craft of a puppeteer, until now- speechless! This is very worthy of being filmed in the U.S. though I doubt that the critics are openminded enough. I managed to rent it at least. I'm glad I did, I thought it was going to be a predictable puppet movie. This movie was many steps above the film, "The Dark Crystal" Which I also enjoyed. The plot was a nice fantasy, which I'm a fan of anyways. After a while I was unaware of the strings, or that their mouths never moved. I was engrossed.

The best part was that the characters were aware of their own strings, and the strings had their own system of mortality. That was so unique. The ending was very touching...the bird didn't need strings, because it was meant to fly.

Bravo...10 all the way for the effort in this puppet story. I wish the U.S. would involve more films like this in our culture, besides shoving them off to independent film houses. It's shouldn't be all about profit. They doubt the intelligence of the American audience to receive such a film.. why I hardly ever go to the movies to dish out $10.50..but yea...glad I rented this. :o)

Glad you liked the film :-) I'm just a little puzzled by the comment: 'This is very worthy of being filmed in the U.S.' Why worthy, and why would it need to be filmed in the U.S.? You already have two of the finest puppet 'animators' in the world today, Stephen and Timothy Quay, but they get little recognition in their own country! They are more widely known in the UK and Europe, maybe because they emulate the European style so much. The U.S. just does not 'get' puppets or even 'dark' animation. They see it as kids stuff! You are a very rare exception LotusLenz. I dread the day American film makers 'try' to emulate something as exquisite and beautiful as Strings!

It is just beautiful. Dark, stunning - I could look at it forever. I never knew a puppet movie could be quite this engrossing.

Can you please explain "This is very worthy of being filmed in the U.S.", i think it was a very good movie, and i dont think U.S. can do anything like this (because of the was U.S. sees animation and movie culture in general). So i dont understand what you mean.

I wrote that so long ago, I have no idea why I wrote that statement. I think what I meant was the movie is worthy of being "shown" in the U.S..like released.

"go ask Alice, when she's ten feet tall"
