Why not install string guards?

I gave this film a rating of 10/10 for its cleverness and originality. It is also a highly watchable film. However it seems to me the whole premise of the head strings, although brilliant, is easily defeated. All the puppets have to do is build chain-mail protectors to cover the strings (especially in battle!) and they would live practically forever.
