Symbolism of the ending (caution: spoilers)

I just saw this film last night and I was really intrigued by its use of the strings. However, there was something about the ending which I didn't uderstand fully. When the pet bird-like animal begins to fly, free from its strings, does it mean the animal has also died? or does this mean it merely broke free of its own limitations?

Most likely the latter. You see the puppeteers and the strings in the first few shots of the movie and so watching the bird fly without strings in the end is a nice contrast to that.

I don't believe the bird died, simply because there would be no real explanation for it. It seems to be in perfect health at the time, other than the fact that it is in mourning.

And based on the words being spoken, I think it simply meant the bird learned had learned how to fly and didn't need the strings.

I also thought of it in terms of how they kept mentioning how everything was connected, and I kind of felt that the bird and Jhinna were connected to one another - perhaps, even, that Jhinna was the bird's ONLY connection and because she was freed from her strings, so was the bird?

I don't know though I am sure there are several legitimate ideas out there. :)

I believe Jhinna's bird can now live without it's strings.
