I have no idea what the ending meant at all, there was him then there was the killer and who killed the girl and I am completely baffled so if someone can break the ending down for me, that would be great.

k, so he goes into the mountian to try and find the girl, finds where she was buried, sees himself in 5 years (his future karma or something)
fights him, realizes who he is, realizes that that version of his future self kills the killer of both girls
reliazes that his decision is what'll end the cycle of killing, so in 5 years time when the future version of himself that he meets kills the other killer, he instead forgives him and brings him back to the temple, which ends all the killing
and thus, creating a new karma without anyone killed.

i got the impression that once BIG saw the head on the tree he had a "vision" of what would happen if he decided to kill the mountain man, leading to warring with himself etc.... he finally realises that it would be wrong.
he snaps out of the vision, after looking at the head.
strips down, and patiently searches for mountain man.

Yeah, big finds girl's body (mountain man killed her) he freaks out, has trippy vision quest where he realized that revenge is not the answer, that if he had done things diffrently he could have been the one to kill his lady cop friend, and that in the end, her karma demanded her death. He picks up some rags, and spends the next 5 years searching for mountain man, the killer. By the time he catches up to him, he understands him fully, knows what to say to get him to come back and face the music.
