Kazakhstan!?
So is Kazakhstan a real country? I had no idea, I thought that Borat guy made it up!!!
Is the national sport shooting dogs?
Can women ride on the inside of busses yet, or is that considered too progressive?

Seriously??
I don't know for Kazakhs but damn, some Americans are really uncultured!
That is pretty scary in fact.
Im not american.
shareHA HA I only ever heard of this country last week!!
Yah, Kazahkstan and all those other 'stans countries of central asia aren't really prominent in common knowlege of most people. Theres just not enough impact on the world from there to gain any media or litterary attention. I only knew about them because of my studies of the Mongol empires....
shareIt is not that Kazakhstan hasn't had an impact on the world, it is the fact that Kazakhstan was a part of the Soviet Union, thus behind the "iron curtain" for the majority of the 20th century.
Kazakh culture was greatly suppressed by Soviet Rule. Now they are free and are developing their own identity in the world. I went there this past summer and it was an amazing journy. THe culture is a mix of Russian and Islam with an Asian twist thrown in for good measure.
Whatever you saw in Borat is overexaggerated. Women ride inside the buses, and it was always like that.
We don't shoot dogs. We are neither racists, nor inti-semites,in fact we probably are one of the most hospitable contries in the world. We have at least 30 different nationalities, several different relegions, and we seem pretty ok living together.
if you want to know more about Kazakhstan just google it. Main cities are: almaty(Alma-Ata) and Astana.
cheers!

borat's stuff weren't "overexaggerated" they were completely made up! there'd have to be a hint of truth for it to be exaggerated in the first place :p
and propaneharry, either you're trying to poke a joke with your insistence or you're really really ignorant.
You should probably get to know Kazakhstan. It's not only one of the largest countries in the world but it's oil output will surpass that of Saudi Arabia by 2030. I've lived here five years and they are the most hospitable people in the world.
shareMan i feel sorry for you...
shareMy sister met and married a Kazakh fellow during her service in the U.S. Peace Corps in Kazakhstan. They now live in Moscow, Russia. I visited them this past summer. We also took a trip to Kazakhstan.
Here are my pics of Kazakhstan. Check them out!
