Strike Action by Craft Union


Dear Sir,
Is it true that "Mad about Dog", are importing Craft Labour into
Ireland,& paying them well below local labour Rates, when local labour is available,& what action should the Local Unions take, --- any Views ???,
(if this was any other Company there would be an immediate all out STRIKE ?).

Wow, just saw this by accident. Yes they were importing labour, not paid below rate though, just below the norm (which is sky high there) Local Unions should do nothing or else loose the shoot altogether and have everyone back on the dole que.
It wasnt just this company that has done this. Take the work where you can and leave it alone if you are not on it. Thats why its so quiet over there. So bloddy expensive. We would love to go over there and shoot some features but theres too many laws and rates are v high so lets get back to basics. STRIKEing is not an option on a film, it costs too much money and If someone strikes on one of my pictures. They dont get hired again!! Its very simple. Please note the film is titled "MAN about dog" not mad, though I see where you get it.
