What was Bulcsú's job before ?

Is this specified in the movie ?

No it was clearly not specified. I think he was some kind of an engineer, probably an architect.

Öcsém, abból amit a Kulkával dumált, szerintem építészmérnök. :D

én is azt gondoltam, hogy epitész volt... de szerintem az nem annyira fontos a történethez...

Szerintem sem, de ha egyszer erre volt kíváncsi a srác? :)

As for myself, I have grasped that aspect of the film in the way that Bulcsú's former job is crucial in understanding why he is living in the underground at least. It is hinted that he had been an architect, having grand plans for buildings. I think that is the point where a connection could be established: He lives in the underground because the surface is plainly full of buildings which he cannot see anymore or so.

Indeed, I also got the feeling he had been an architect. I think it's crucial for the understanding of the message of the movie to understand that he did have a good job and life going for him until something happened that he became a ticket controller. Also, he does go outside in the end..which I found great.

Actually Bulcsú was a high class PIMP. It's very obvious from the movie.

reply

Yes, that is the impression I got as well. Not only was he an architect but a very creative and successful one. It also seems that he just kind of disappeared from his former life.

I always wonder when I read subtitles if I am missing something in the translation that could be vital to the story.

I also wondered as to what was his previous occupation? It was definitely some white collar job. It could have been architect, as some people have suggested, but I'm not entirely sure. It could also have been a college professor or scientist. What is strange is that the previous job must have been so stressful for him that he felt it necessary to escape without telling anyone. That's funny given that his present job was not a piece of cake either. Indeed, most people would probably prefer a nice office job to chasing people in the subway.
