...the original was hung so firmly on the personalities Jackie Gleason and Art Carney. This movie was funny and had a number of fine performances in it but it just faild to reproduce the cultural resonance of the original. Not a bad run of the mill screen comedy, as a remake, less than sucessful.

I Think Car 54, Where Are You? was the same.

I disagree. This movie is ALL bad. It's just aweful. In two minutes Mike Epps resorted to and unfunny fart joke and then an unfunny booger joke. It's a disgrace to the character. Norton was goofy but classy.
