I don't get the rape scene

I don't see its necessity, All it made me do is clap when Michael gripped that hicks throat. I'm not supposed to root for Michael, in fact I don't through almost the rest of the movie. This scene just hinders the movie because it's graphic with no real meaning behind it. I mean if you're telling Michael killed them cause they called him a *beep* (like his father) then couldn't they have just brought that scene on with the two guards screwing with him? I mean if there's relevance to the story there someone correct me.

There wasn't. That's why it was cut from the theatrical release and never should've been on the director's cut. The scene made no sense. You are not alone in this.

Lol, alright I didn't remember that from when I seen it in 07, watched today online, and seen that scene and it just left me with the WTF reaction.

I'm not one to usually defend remakes, but I think that it's because the woman reminded Michael of his mom, it was like watching those same sickos hurting the one person that he cared about. But I think the fact they smashed up his mask collection also is what caused him to finally snap. That way, when we saw Myers waste those two sickos and free the other inmates (the woman included), we were supposed to feel like we were on his side.

And that was the whole damn problem wit the Halloween reboot! It was trying to make us feel like Michael Myers was a victim and a tortured soul! John Carpenter even said (about the original ) that we weren't supposed to relate to Michael at all. To humanize Michael Myers was a bad move!

I will admit, I am looking forward to 31. Rob Zombie better never try to remake anything again.

Yeah I that's what I mean I don't want to see Mike as a antihero or something, I just thought they could of easily called him a homo(like his father did) and then he snapped. I thought he whole scene was just unesscary and felt forced into a movie that didn't need that.

That whole rape scene was overdone and needlessly unpleasant. It had no place in the movie at all.

From what I recall, I think he cut her free. But I'll never know 100%, since I never plan to watch it again.

I will admit though: The DVD cover artwork does look kind of cool. It just would've been nice if it was used in a prequel/sequel instead of a remake.

I think he just left her

Michael had no reaction to the rape at all. It did not effect him in a positive or negative way, he paid no attention to it. He only reacted when his masks were knocked off the wall and his killing of the orderlies were not performed with morality in mind.

We do not see the woman afterwards, the rape was never mentioned again and it was done for titillation because Zombie may be an interesting visual director but he is a garbage writer, blatantly immature in style, who comes across as a man who has just learned what swearwords, blowjobs and pussy is and gets twitchy if he hasn't a reference to it within ten minutes.

The rape was completely un-necessary. This is not the fault of the three actors who tried to make it work the best they could.

I don't think the actress who played the rape victim was even credited which shows Zombie's complete lack of respect. I'll admit I was wrong if I can be corrected on this, however.

Nowhere in the film is it indicated that the girl reminds Michael of his mom or that Michael's psychosis is sourced from or triggered by witnessing rape.

Michael doesn't even do anything until one of the orderlies tampers with his masks.

It's pure Zombie-ism that has nothing to do with the characters or any coherent motivation, even psychotic motivation.

Totally gratuitous and unnecessary.

Agreed. Add to it just being unbelievably stupid, considering who Michael is and what he has already done.

I agree the rape scene is completely unnecessary.

You are looking for "relevance" in this piece of crap? Let me explain; Rob Zombie wanted to include a nasty rape scene for the hell of it, to add to the shock value. It's also why he felt the need to include the scene of his wife pole dancing in a strip club. In fact, I'm surprised there isn't more rape scenes in this piece of trash. Did you get the relevance of having every girl be naked while she was being murdered? Don't bother; there is no relevance. I mean the man turned one of the most mysterious, iconic evil figures into a big white trash goon. It was hilarious. This movie is so bad that I can hardly believe that it exists..and that there are people out there DEFENDING it..and taking it seriously. It's not even a legitimate horror film; it's more like a spoof of a classic.

You're right.

Cinematography was good, though.

I'd say it's in there simply because Rob thought it would be cool. It could be simply that that's his mentality.

Either that or it was perhaps symbolic of how he was sodomising the rotting carcass of a franchise that has been dead and buried for years.
