This, Friday, or nightmare remake?

In the spirit of halloween season, and with me just rewatching Friday and nightmare remake back to back on amc at 10am, I figured why not pose the question to others. I know for me it's definintley the halloween remake that is the best, I'm a Myers fan so if you wanna say a little bias fine but I thought it was defnntley the best executed , Friday the 13th 09 was one of the few watchable jason movies and nightmare on elm street remake was kinda trash unfortunately cliche and boring up the ass, thanks to *beep* acting

Oh, jeez. To be honest, the only thing I really like about any of them was the girls (and the naked girls in this and "Friday"). I think "Nightmare" actually improved on the original IN PLACES, even if it was generally very inferior, and it didn't do dumb things like giving "Michael" an unnecessary back story or have "Jason" take hostages.

Rob Zombie is the best AUTHENTIC horror-movie director of the three though (the other two directors are complete Hollywood hacks). And while I don't think Danielle Harris or Scout Compton are as talented as Rooney Mara (from "Nightmare"), Danielle especially seems genuinely proud of working in the genre and didn't give a snooty, high-assed, phoned-in performance.

I would say Halloween 2007 version.

Halloween definitely. It had a linear flowing timeline and didn't drag on or have unnecessary bits. While the white trash, vulgarity and swearing were out of place, it was a much better film.

Friday was too disjointed. Basically 2 films in one. The first act, the first victims, then the long build of the second set of victims.

Nightmare went too pedophile for my tastes, otherwise it would've been a decent film to watch.

weird you say that because i was about to leave a comment here saying that halloween 2007 feels like 2 different movies. the weird child psychology backstory and then the actual remake of the original. (its also incredibly long for a horror movie at 2 hours)

on the rare occasion i do watch this film i usually skip right to michael breaking out of the asylum as i find the child back story painfully boring and horribly awkward. the child they got to play him was a terrible actor and didnt pull off the role. even if he was a good actor id still probably have disliked this portion of the film, as i didnt like the idea to begin with.

all in all i dislike this movie a great deal buf if i skip the first 45 minutes it goes from a 2/10 to about a 5/10.

i just did not get the need for white trash upbringing angle.

all of that said to answer the original poster's question friday the 13th is my pick for the best of the 3.

i actually liked the extended opening where they kill the first group of campers in quick succession and then move on to a second group.

Interesting. Is this the one where the two guys are driving in a truck and some long haired white trash guy yells Cow real loud? And then they hit a cow and one of the guys is killed and Michael Myers kills the other guy?

No, that was Halloween II 2009. This was the origin story and a remake of the original film.

In general, I hated them all and feel they were absolutely and completely unnecessary. However, of the three remakes, I'd have to say that, on the whole, Halloween sucked the least.

Friday the 13th remake was 1) boring, 2)badly written, even by cheesy horror standards, and 3)just plain badly executed. It was like they couldn't even decide if they were remaking Part 1 or Part 2. The only thing it had going for it was that some of the actors could actually act.

Nightmare remake was badly cast, badly acted, and put too much emphasis on the child molester angle. I mean, sure it's always been implied, but never outright said in the original, but the pervert thing wasn't what made him so disturbing. It was the fact that he seemed to get off so much on the fear and pain of his victims, even before he was killed. Also, the special effects from the original were actually a lot creepier in my opinion. As was Freddy's make-up.

Immortality seems like a good idea, until you realize you're going to spend it alone.

Well, based on the fact that the Halloween series is my favorite of all horror films, I'm going with the Halloween remake. I really like what Rob Zombie did with this one.

Having said that, I never could stand the original Friday the 13th series. All of those movies were just beyond dumb to me. But I loved the remake, and think it was better than all of the previous movies combined, x10! Absolutely great job on the remake.

The original Nightmare on Elm Street was one of the best horror movies of all time. Too bad the sequels ruined the series. But that remake was a complete abomination.

I love Michael Myers but Friday The 13th is way better, Halloween (2007) sucks.
