not a big fan base in the stated, I wonder if that's a good thing?

It depends, if Clive Barker did direct a Devilman remake he would probably make it all americanized which we all dont wont.

Clive Barker would be my first choice as the director for a Devilman remake, as long as its set in Japan and probably have Christophe Gans as the producer.

funny that, Barker isn't even an American. but anyways back on topic, I think a Devilman film could be stunning, though I have not seen this particular incarnation nor do I wish to given the reviews I have read, I believe an amazing live action film could be made.
My vote would be for Shinya Tsukamoto to direct. After watching some of Tsukamoto's previous films such as Tokyo Fist, Tetsuo, Haze & Nightmare Detective I think his skills would lend well to this story and make it what it deserves to be on celluloid. I can only dream...

It ain't always black an' white, sometimes it's just red... hitmandiaries.net

Barker would be a great choice, but he's all but stepped away from film as a whole...

Miike should have done this movie... I'll keep *beep* saying it, too...
