Is this movie really so bad ?

ok - I saw 1 or 2 times "Der Clown" in TV - and it was crappy - but the action was ok - for a TV production ..

... and so is the movie. If you know the series, just imagine watching a double feature. It is fast, rich of action and definitly not boring. The non-action parts are covered with wanted and unwanted comedy. Really, watch it, you won't regret it, if you like this kind of show. I'm really waiting for a "Cobra 11" Movie ...

... but here even the action sucks. You got to have really low standards to appreciate this one, believe me. Shakey photography all the way, hectic editing and all in an obvious as well as desperate attemp to make it look like you were watching something really, really great, when it simply isn't. This is neither the first nor the only movie to put style before substance and there is a whole bunch of flicks of that kind that I truely love, but frankley, not even the style-thing works. It's a blatant, meaningless, unentertaining nothing.
Damn, how I want to get back those two hours of my life!

I thought Der Clown was way cool. I only saw the movie and have never seen the TV show. Take the american show A Team, throw in hot Euro babes , extra huge explosions, lots of stuff destroyed and people getting blown away (no one died in the A Team, despite thousands of gunshots), and you have Der Clown. For me it was really entertaining and I hate American low budget action stuff!

I am only familiar with the tv series "Der Clown." It was on Dutch television.

It's not a bad series at all, especially not for television. What I especially liked is the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously, even though it's the same Batman/Zorro concept: masked (super)hero fights crime and helps the police solve cases (or solve it for them altogether).

Sven Martinek was in good shape, as was his female partner, Diana Frank. The Dobbs character added some more humor and the action and plot were always decent.

I never could get into the "A-Team" because it was so obviously aimed at 12-year old boys. And in that series you just had to wait untill the bad guys locked up the team in the toolshed again.

Dunno...

I loved the series, they had action, they were funny and just great.
The movie, as I'm watching it now, seems like crap compared to the TV series. Also it sounds so fake when they talk in English, I was so used to German in the series.

Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out.

Agreed, this film is just terrible. From the lazy cliches (a journalist in trouble, bad guys wearing matching all-black uniforms, et al) to the stupid mask (A clown, with a little hat), and tired camera tricks (split screen for no reason), and tired, trite dialogue.
