So McGruder DID have involvement in the last season. And Sony sucks.

McGruder is far from incompetent. But just like I called it, McGruder was indeed involved in the last season. Some of those eps were straight up great. These Sony leaked emails are fascinating. http://www.buzzfeed.com/matthewzeitlin/sony-tv-boss-on-boondocks-creator-aaron-mcgruder-f-em

We knew Sony sucked, and at least "Freedomland" and "The New Black" felt very McGruder-like. While the former lacked any subtlety, the latter was a nice reference and play on "The S Word."

Most of what is written there was pretty much common knowledge around here, though. Someone had linked an article where someone (Sway, maybe) had said that Aaron was fired. He was hospitalised trying to get through series three, and Sony has the rights to his show. It's a damn shame, but that's the business model, and the reason I believe that Chappelle also quit.

What do you know about vibrators?

No i would say while it was somewhat similar to what Dave Chappelle went through, Chapelle quitting was also quite different in that he had a successful series but was saying and doing skits he later regretted as folks would confront him in the street and repeat some of his own skits to him.

Outside the bounds of a television show it infringed on his personal space and he saw what damage graphic humor can do if folks mis-understand the social commentary inbetween his adult and rather diverse humor. Seeing the evils of the studio firsthand and what they'll do for money rather than class or decency, he chose to regain his senses and thus quit the show as it was entering its third season no matter its ratings, how much he was getting paid and place as a major hit show, and left for Africa controversially as we all know.

Now while i do see similarities to Aaron McGruder and the way Boondocks progressed as a series from its beginning to end. It not the same exactly as Chapelle's situations at all though even if it bears some minor comparisons for argument sakes here. I'd say McGruder was depressed and burned out eventually by doing Boondocks, but Chapelle saw what negative aspects his humor was doing or not relying to the audience exactly as he wanted to be thus kinda grew up and said no to the studio regardless of the money he was making and the sheer success of his series.

McGruder loves controversy unlike Dave Chapelle however, and certainly wouldn't stop Boondocks from what it is and controversially how it started out. With its overuse of the N-word etc and other subtly written and a twist on the a-typical supposed stereotypical African American spoofing satire which Boondocks took to new heights and so on.

Sigh, yeah its a damn shame things ended when it did. Cos we as fans always wanted Boondocks to return to the freshness of season 1 and be as funny and raw as that obviously was! McGruder got burnt out and disagreements while making the actual show clearly effected its shelf-life.
