People who hate Season 4

People who hate season 4 obviously don't get it. The entire season is basically what's going on in America right now, yet it goes right over the heads of people who don't follow the laws and bills being passed, or any of the current events. A lot of people are complaining "It's just not funny enough...", but I honestly don't think it's supposed to be. If anything, it's a warning. Huey's role as the voice of reason has taken the back seat because the entire season is basically saying "listen before it's too late!".

That being said, there were a couple episodes in this the season that were an absolute bore to watch (S4E004: Early Bird Special, S4E005 "Freedom Ride or Die", S4E009 "Stinkmeaner: Begun the Clone War Has"), but every single episode has a much deeper meaning than accounted for.

I always tell people not to watch The Boondocks as a comedy series, but from start to finish as a serious education program. You'd be surprised at what you'll learn; especially when you read between the lines. My favorite episode from the entire series is S1E008 "The Real". That episode speaks VOLUMES.

Obviously. Not because the radical shift in style nor because it's missing subtlety in the message, but because they just don't get it.

I saw parts of "Early Bird Special," and you're right, it was a right bore. However, I fully watched "I Dream of Siri," "Freedomland," and "The New Black." The only one that I thought felt anything like an episode from prior series was "The New Black." The former two episodes were like getting smashed in the head with a sledgehammer, and that kind of blunt delivery is exactly the opposite of what many came to love about the show.

I'll say it this way: series three was a disappointment in quality, but it still felt like it belonged. Many felt that series four was almost a different show.

I'm going to go and draw cocks on the other applications.

Humor is not the most important thing when it comes to The Boondocks. The one thing that will always stand out more than anything else is its social commentary. Its eye for satire and awareness of the African-American community was what made it a brilliant show when Aaron McGruder was showrunner.

People did not hate the fourth season because it was unfunny (although it was, but I digress). They hated it for ridiculous, nonsensical plots ("Granddad Dates a Kardashian," Stinkmeaner IV),characters becoming noticeably annoying or stale, and the social commentary taking a hit. This show had nothing to say in season four, and when it did, it would fall flat on its face because the execution was hamfisted or beaten into us multiple times. It became South Park on a bad day, and the best episodes that season would be nothing more than interesting filler in seasons two or three. The Boondocks lost everything that made it a great show. The humor, the satire, the characterizations, the stories, the political awareness. What you got was a bunch of writers trying to do the show like nothing changed and they failed.

I didn't even know there was a fourth season.

Doesn't look to promising from the episode titles.

Season three was so thugnificient.

You could watch it if you want to complete the show, but it offers nothing else besides that.

I never understood the hate for season three. It had everything fans expect from The Boondocks, and pretty much every episode is still entertaining after six years.

No after season two the show was declining .
I'm Blade brown, the Dopest, ,hypest brotha, on the block!

I don't think so.

So "Granddad Dates a Kardashian"... "Granddad Dates an iPhone"... "Granddad Dates Lonely, Past Prime Black Women".. these are all shining examples of a "serious education program"?

Season 4 was absolutely awful. Excessive focus on Granddad, recycling of tired plots, Huey reduced to a minor character... How can anyone defend it.

I'm not exactly sure who you're responding to, but I made it clear that I wasn't a fan of season four.

I never understood some of the hate for season 3 either, I always felt it was the best one entertainment wise and its the season I've rewatched more times than any other.
