The sadest moment is the series

What do you think is the sadest moment in ths series?
For me was betwen episode 9 when Akemi was telling Shuji that she loved him and then switch to a scene where Astushi was saying that he didn't wanted to die and wanted to go with Akemi. Also when i realized the irony that Astushi joined the army to protect Akemi but she ends up dying.

I saw them, they were pretty well done but they didnt explain too much of the things that were never explained. They are sad but not as sad as the series, anyway they are very good.

I agree with Yumi here- the whole series is enough to break a man. I don't think I felt truly happy for a week after seeing this. It's truly awesome... but, if I had to pick a moment- just say *any* moment in the last three episodes.

I agree a heart breaker is the irony Astushi joining the army to protect Akemi. Not only did he she not really love him anyway, not only did she die anyway making his efforts futile, but what killed her wasn't even the war which he was supposedly protecting her from, it was an earthquake!

I also thought many of the war scenes had an almost Saving Private Ryan feel to them. Like when Astushi steps away from the spot he was sitting to get his helmet back off some guy who stole it, then the spot where he was just sitting and all the people who were there with him get hit by a mortar shell, leaving him standing in shock.

I thought the saddest moment was when Tetsu died.

I was strongly for Tetsu and Chise during the series because I really didn't like Fuyumi for always trying to seduce Shuji and use him.
It annoyed me so much that Tetsu was really REALLY in love with a woman like Fuyumi.
Anyway, I thought it was sad when Tetsu was dying really calmly, walking back to his place and thinking about his wife, then he gets killed by the 4 enemy soldiers.
It was really sad when you saw how upset Chise was and she wasn't being fake at all, she literally cried out how she felt, she was angry that Tetsu mistaked her for Fuyumi - Chise obviously had really strong feelings for Tetsu and Shuji never knows.

I agree the whole series is sad, how they can't be together becuz she is a weapon and all they want is to be together and get to know each other :( A beautifull Anime well worth watching!

i gotta say that whole bedroom scene with Akemi dying after the earthquake, only by 0.01% followed by the death of Tetsu.

i'm guy and i can honestly say i balled my eyes out from episodes 9-12; the last half of 13 had me sad that there is this 1 poor bastard left on a the planet stuck in an imaginary world talking to himself, which is also sad, but on another level.

Yeah the episode with Akemi dying was definitely the saddest for me, and then when I realized all his best friends died except for Chise that was pretty sad too. Also, the ending of the whole series of course deserves mention, although it didn't make me all that sad because at least Shuuji was happy. :)

I agree with most of the above. One that caught me was the episode "Everybody's Changing" Eureka 7 even did an homage to the
title in its series. The last day Chise attends school, the last
field trip to see the dolphins. When Chise turns white and gives
the bi-polar ohio good morning speech to Shuji in the hall or
stairwell and calls Shuji, you poor guy. Very sad.
Part of the unrealistic story part, after Tetsu dies and Chise
rises above and says I guess you had enough of playing, I guess
its my turn now.

Whenever chise had the bombs falling out her back..and she was bleeding and crying..its just heartbreaking
