This anime made me angry

It started off pretty cool and just as I was getting comfortable the story just got more and more depressing. As it progressed it made me feel frustrated and eventually I had to stop for a bit because of the desperation I felt for some of the characters. I know it's a fake story, but parts like when Akemi and Atsushi die without even knowing what's really going on (that Chise is a human weapon, etc.) it makes me want to yell out "why didn't this happen?" and "why did that happen?" and it's just a very despondent plot. There are so many things that go wrong and so many secrets, if it weren't for the sci-fi Chise, I would have just passed this off as another sad drama like "Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien" which most drama lovers say is good and I agree that the storyline is decent but I just don't like that type of material.

I felt like that while watching Chrnos Crusade.

So was thge world cdestroyed all apart from chise and the guy?

reply

Chise asked the guy if he wanted to live. The guy didn't have much time to ponder over this, as there was a full out war going on at the moment, and the guy wasn't able to think straight, so he just answered, out of desperation, "Yes, I want to live." Chise then sacrificed herself to destroy the entire world, leaving the guy by himself. When the guy sees Chise, he is hallucinating her before he dies because he's the only one left in the world...a world covered in desert, where he can cultivate no food or water, with no human contact ever.

You misunderstood everything about this series, even the reason of war.

That's not a hallucination, yes, it's all in his mind, but those scenes are
a great metaphor about what he's feeling in that instant, he ask,
what's reason for being the only survivor? And live alone on the Earth.
He realize it's to discover the big love that both have he's not lonely, now, they're one in his heart
even she's dead and can not have physical contact, they are together forever.
He always was a reserved guy as his father, but now showed his soul.
After he realized that, you see that golden "light of hope" and Chise's voice says "I heard your heart".

Last scene, it's what he reminds of her personality and appearance.
For that moment, he has a reason "to live" in that post-apocalyptic world as long as he can,
he ask in that scene to Chise the world is over? She says yes and apologizes,
but he's just talking to himself, means he doesn't blame her. Later stated "that sound of the world's ending,
I heard it as a heartbeat of Chise. Our and world voices raised in our last love song".
Obviously he's conscious of their environment but even can see it in a poetic way.

There is this metaphor about his tears too, when 1st tear drop over their sign of love,
he found her remains, 2nd tear over light of hope and both appears on the viewpoint,
their especial place where their love began and ended. Those tears are his desires to find her.
when tears fall he found her and understood a new thing. Finally he stated: we fall in love... we subsist.
"The Last Love Song On This Little Planet".

I don't where you hear those dialogues, nothing what you wrote happened
Chise was planning to destroy the entire town, for her beloved ones and especially Shuuji
will not suffer and wanted to die with them, she knew the reality and says next earthquake
was going to destroy the Earth. Even said she reflected about it
because Shuuji changed her mind when he showed to her the love. He taught her
she must live and struggle for it and her life, finally decide to protect the town and Shuuji
but when the tsunami is coming, she lost the hope again, but Shuuji stars to scream
"nobody wants to die" and Chise appeared in the last second with a part of her mechanical body to save him.

Now, about your thread, these unfair situations are very well placed
It's a anti-war drama which shows injustices, a shy and naive girl converted
in a massive killer weapon, all these boys and girls having destroyed their lives,
countries which devastated their lands while trying to take the last habitable ground on Earth
but they ended destroying the world, Japan which wants to protect their territory
created a weapon which just help to finish their country.
The reason of these injustices are caused for a "WAR". War is Satan playing with humans.
The messages of this series are war just bring disgrace, value of life and world.

Now see the real world how many people suffers for a war and change all for those persons.
Day by day, how many girls and boys, never said to those persons, they love them.
and move to another city, change school, etc. Unfair things happen all the time.
Exist personal and global secrets we'll never know, like when you make a girl mad
and she never wants to tell what's wrong? But it's ok, someday you remember those moments
and smiles saying: "I lived that"

They say the drama needs good and bad moments to support the story
and this anime, if you didn't notice, have both.
If you watch all the things in a superficial way, as say "he was hallucinating"
(probably, he mustn't have smoked that pot before tsunami), you hardly find these things.

Thank you for this explanation. The story is more clear to me now
