about tonight's episode

I've only watched two episodes so far so I'm not sure if it was a re-run or not. If it was, it's the episode with a judge's daughter being kidnapped and threatened to set a murderer free, and it turned out the kidnappers had the wrong girl,

Anyway, when they were at the night club chasing after their only lead (with only a few hours left to find the kidnapped girl), what was Vivica Fox's character (Nicole) doing? She kept going like "jazz...jazz...jazz..." and drinking while her partner was outside getting beaten up and forced to shoot and kill their only lead...and it's weird how she took NO blame afterwards, though it was clearly completely her fault that their lead was killed...there was nothing else her partner could do, she paged Nicole once and got no response (we see her going like "jazz...jazz..." and not responding), and of course her partner couldn't just let their only lead walk off and disappear, and when she went after him, he jumped on her unexpectedly..

Kind of hard to take Nicole's character seriously after that scene...she criticized the other guy (I think was her superior) for putting the priority in putting the murderer to justice over the kidnapped girl's safety, but then, she herself put partying and drinking over the girl's safety.
