maybe script is not good I understand,or editing or directing is poor.But I am shocked with Lohman's performance.She is terrible,and beyond being terrible she's annoying.She acts always as if she is about to burst into tears,frowning all the time.
She is ruining the movie totally,wasting Colin's and Kevin's performances.
If director wanted her to act as she acted in the movie deliberately,something is wrong with director.
If Lohman is known with her poor acting ,why was she put in this movie?
I wish I wanted to watch Kim Bassinger,Scarlett Johansson in her role instead.
Anyone above average acting would make this movie much better.Script is not terrible as much as her acting.

I had belly laughters :) when Kevin got crazy, as Colin tried to *beep* him.Kevin was saying " we do not *beep* each other". Kevin's face reaction and his face were amazing :)))

She's the least of this movie's flaws, and I actually think she is a talented girl. Check "Matchstick Men". Maybe 56 year-old Kim Basinger could play her mom? lol

And Johansson is too voluptuous for this part.

I would say she was the worst in this movie - but the two leads were so strong maybe in contrast she looked poor? I do know one thing - Scarlett Johannson would never make anything better. She is without a doubt the most over rated actress in my lifetime.

maybe you are rigth why do you think she is the most overrated actress? because her beauty and sexual charm sells? I do not know really why woody allen carries her everywhere and does coupling,like director-actress coupling thing.
I do not agree if you say lohman is better in acting than johansson.

I thought Lohman was good as her character was full of hate for these gay men that use drugs on her.

I agree! she was! I really liked her in Matchstick Men, but she was very one-dimensional in this movie and talked in the exact tone regardless of the different emotions the character was going through. It was extremely un-moving. And definitely ruined the movie. It's a shame.

I thought AL was perfectly fine in her role here -- never thought otherwise til i started reading these criticisms.

To a previous poster-- I agree, Scarlett J is overrated; she is a model, not an actress. I generally stay away from any film where she has a significant role -- I know she will ruin it.

Alison Lohman is like the best actress in my opinion and is way better than Scarlett Johansen. Lohman was the best part about this movie.

Agree 110%. Wanted to check this board to see if anyone else thought she was a poor, pale,and uninspired choice. Despite Firth and Bacon, this movie was encumbered with an actress who couldn't deliver and her performance (?) is the biggest reason I won't be recommending this movie to friends. It's difficult to believe Lohman was the best reading at auditions for the role. Good lord, what were the rejects like?

I thought she was really good in this. Comes across as an intelligent, sharp and articulate woman with journalistic ambition. What is the problem here? She had the emotional range. Perfect casting, if you ask me.

She's talented but she was miscast in that one.
Anne Hathaway,Rachel MccAdams or Scarlett Johansson would have nailed the part.

I know that if you leave dishes in the sink, they get sticky and hard to wash the next day.

All i want to know, are those really her boobs we saw in this movie, or a body double. If it were a body double i would be disapointed

Bowl a strike so we can have fun at the strip club, I wana see a real 7 - 10 split!

terrible, i found her almost laughable, and i realized this a few minutes into the movie. Glad im not the only one who noticed.

I need to constantly post on IMDB/yes i am a loser.

Watched the film last night and she did appear miscast. Like a little girl lost instead of an investigative journo

Then again so many actress nowadays are like this, Rachel McAdams, Heather Graham, Kate Bosworth the list goes on

I dont think anyone came out of the movie with a great performance really. Firth didnt look like a 50's comic and Bacon looked to young in the 70's

I thought that Lohman was completely miscast, but not necessarily bad.
