The bathroom scene

I wanted to know, because i've never seen the movie, what happens in the bathroom scene? My friend saw the movie, and when i asked her, she said it was funny. what happened???

It's one of my favorite scenes because of Owen Wilson's ad-libbing. After Seymour Cassell fires back a verbal shot at him, Wilson says in a high, shaky voice "ooh-la-lay... you got a lot of heart ese!" before getting serious with "... maybe too much." And then he casually walks away from the urinal with his fly down and shakes Wendell's hand. It's classic Owen. It's one of about five really funny scenes in the movie (all with either Owen or Will Ferrell in them).

Well, there were two bathroom scenes in the movie. The one that Bill Howard brought up was actually kind of funny. There's another scene where Luke Wilson is urinating next to a little kid, and the kid pees all over his shoes. Wilson tries to help the kid by lifting him up, so that he can reach the urinal. The kid's father pops out of the stall and from behind it looks as if Wilson is doing something inappropriate with the kid. That's when the father gets angry and beats Wilson up. I thought it was a poorly executed gag. I don't know if others thought it was funny.

i don't know what is wrong with the scene. rewatching the movie i'm thinking a lot of the movie falls flat because of the comedic timing not being right, maybe some has to do with editing. one bad editing choice in my opinion is the scene where he is looking at the river while a Beck song plays. then it abruptly cuts to the first nursing home shot. some of the music should have carried over and faded out over the next shot or something.

i think the bathroom gag would have worked better if you took the dad and the sexual innuendo out. just have luke hold the kid to pee.
