Things I hate about Underclassman.

Tre is a high school dropout who manages to graduate from the police academy and become a cop. In this day and and age most police departments if not all of them require an applicant to have some college credits in addition to a high school diploma.

What was the point of the paintball scene?

I have never heard of a high school with it's own street ball team.

For a bike cop Tre has a pretty big gun.

Wouldn't the teacher notice Tre talking on his cell phone before he tried to cheat?

What was Tre thinking trying to catch up with a corvette on foot?

It's hard to imagine that a fine woman like Detective Brooks can't get a date and would rather sit at home and eat ice cream.

It's too bad Gillecki didn't have any hand sanitizer after taking a dump during stakeout.

After "The Scorpion King" and "X2" that Kelly Hu can't get a job. INJUSTICE!

How Tre is overtly kept from talking to any of the female students in the movie until it comes time to use them as "Black Man's Kryptonite"

Tre never gets hit or hurt in the final shootout/chase scene.

The Tre/Gillecki friction was old by the 3rd joke and you knew how their relationship would turn out.

The most menacing team in the Blacktop Challenge is the very first team!

Speaking of the Blacktop Challenge, the last game they set it up like the team has the odds against them, but Alexander will lead them to the Promised Land....and THEY FORGET ABOUT IT COMPLETELY!

Man I thought I missed something bad in the first half of this movie, cause I was expecting a 5 - 6 rating. I didn't think it was very good, but it didn't seem THAT bad to me.

But when I saw this thread I thought it might educate me as to why it was so bad, but man you guys have some pretty weak reasons to hate a movie.

Why don't you use your time on hear to just go and watch a movie you do like? You'll feel happier.

And I can say that your standards in movies are low.

"Why don't you use your time on hear to just go and watch a movie you do like?"

Now that is a Catch-22, isn't it? How do we know that we like a movie or not if we don't WATCH it? Aren't there enough people on here that give movies 1s despite never seeing them?

No, you just have really bad taste in movies by expecting over a 3 for this tripe.

If you paid attention to the title of the thread you would have figured that different people are going to hate the movie for different reasons. I have a right to express my opinions on why I like or dislike a movie.

He had his GED.

Listen to the dialogue between Nick Cannon and the other guy during the paintball scene and you'd get it.

This was a movie. A high school could have its own street ball team in a movie if it wanted to.

No comment on the gun issue, other than it wasn't an AK-47 or something.

Maybe the teacher didn't notice Tre was talking on his phone until he walked by.

He was probably trying to get close enough to the car to shoot the tires.

Maybe Detective Brooks couldn't get a date because she was so focused on her career. Many women are like that nowadays.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you on the last point about Gallecki taking a dump in the bushes and maybe not having hand sanitizer. But we don't really know if he had any or not.

"I'd be very happy to be myself if I could remember who I am. Who am I?"

reply

Absurd.

"trying to get close enough to shoot the tires"? Are you serious?

Just accept the fact that the movie is less than tripe. It is a waste of time and money, and painful to watch. Cannon is a horrible actor who can't deliver a believable line, or even present a likeable delivery one can enjoy if not believe. The premise is absurd, the plot predictable and transparent and the performances less than laughable. They should have quit before shooting, but continuing after shooting day one is unforgivable given what we get on screen.

I know he had a GED I do pay attention. However a GED by itself is not enough to become a police officer or get any job for that matter. I know what the paintball scene was about but I think there was a better way of them finding out about Tre's motives. Just because this movie is a comedy doesn't mean you don't pay attention to detail.

reply

It was also said in the movie that he attended the police academy, because he was supposed to have shattered the record that Captain Delgado set while he attended the police academy. (This was toward the early part of the movie after they were finished playing basketball on the police department team.) I pay attention to detail myself.

You don't have to have any college credits to be a police officer. All you need is a GED. My husband is a guard at the jail and soon will be a patrol officer as soon as he turns 21. All you have to do is go through the training and be old enough to have a gun license and you can be a cop.

reply

I guess it depends on what city and state you live in. I live in Chicago and here you have to have at least 90 college credits. In most of the suburbs surrounding Chicago you have to have around 60 college credits.
