why does Sing (stephen chow) strike the Beast (siu-lung leung)?

why does Sing (stephen chow) strike the Beast (siu-lung leung) when the beast is on the ground tangled with the landlady and the landlord? wasn't Sing still on the side of the axe gang at that moment? did he switch sides right before that?

reply

Because he grew up always wanting to be the good guy, and at that moment he realized he wanted to do the more righteous thing.

Yeah. If Sing had never decided to hit the Beast, he likely would have never fought with the axe gang, or any of that. The Landlord/Lady would have died and Pig Sty Alley would have been destroyed. Sing is a simple yet wonderful example of character development.

People here used to say I was high because of the stuff I said. I was actually a hyper 13-year-old.

i thought it happened too quickly for me to catch on

Oh okay, i hadn't understood that

Could also be that he just cracked the leader of the Axe Gang on the head and made him bleed so quickly changed allegiances (for the cynical view)
