Take it for what it is, and have fun!

It doesn't make sense in parts and there are plot holes but if you just accept it as a fun adventure you will enjoy it. Parts reminded me of some adventure movies I watched as a kid that were pretty unbelievable. Like Goonies and The Neverending Story. I definately laughed outloud at the mining bit and dinosaur jaw boat. Ludacris. Fun Flick though.

I didn't even think it was a fun adventure, just boring and typical.

I agree loads of plot holes and a bit formulaic with no real character development but decent fun and quite entertaining 6 out of 10

The 3d angle makes it a 9/10 for me

absolutely agree with you kellynn

if people would stop looking at the theories and trying to prove them all wrong and instead just enjoyed the silliness and fun aspect it would make it more enjoyable.

i really loved this film.

It was fun

I agree with you 100%. It was geared to kids.
I viewed it without - as I'm on chemo. I like moviews like this where I'm pretty sure "nothing bad is going to happen and everything is going to work out in the end" so I enjoyed it as it was intended. I wish they made more "bad movies" just like this one. I really don't care what these film "critcs" think of my opinion. They have yours and I have mine. I'm very highly educated and have seen my share of movies that tax my intellect and adore them when in that frame of mind. At this time, I am not in that frame and thank goodness they have movies like this for different people, different states of mind, and those with differences of opinion.

But one last thought before all you start bickering over another movie, especially one not geared toward YOUR demographic. Ask that demographic. In this case - ask a kid. Second, rent a dvd of the movie and take it someone who is on chemo or radiation & watch it with THEM or leave it for them to watch and later go back and see if they enjoyed it. If they did or didn't or it even engrossed them enough to forget their troubles and pain for an hour and a half, THEN come back and write your critiques. All of you who nitpik need a dose of reality over a silly movie.

Now move over, I'm going to watch Overboard.

I really liked this movie. I watched it at home with the 3D glasses and actaully jumped at a couple of the things that came out at me. It was fun to watch. And the kids were able to watch it too. They haven't seen as many movies as the rest of us have so they didn't realize all the plot holes. Fun movie. I give it 7 stars.

I liked it well enough. It had some funny moments, some bad ones, and overall, a movie I can watch a second or third time, if there's nothing better on tv.

i totally agree with you.
if everything in movies was accurate, that'd be extremely boring. They wouldn't be able to twist anything and make it crazy and exciting. The movie isn't really supposed to be teaching anything just giving people something to enjoy for a little bit.

There were some interesting parts, but my little sister and I saw it without 3-D. We both agreed it was a movie just made for 3-D... not much storyline going on. It seemed more like it should be an amusement park ride than a movie.

The special effects were too cartoonish and computerish. But it wasn't too bad, though I liked the original made in 1958 better....

After browsing all the smart-ass threads about why this movie kinda sucked I'm inclined to go with the above advice. Of course the movie doesn't really stand up to a lot of analysis, is ridiculously full of absurd actions and coincidences, and is eyeroll cheesy with it's little "meaningful" moments. Let's say it's a kids variation on the similar "Land of the Lost" movie which has more adult-kid innuendo. This movie is something to just let it roll and indulge in implausable but fun fantasy.
