Centre - The central point of an object.
Center - A place where people congregate.

lo, in french i am not sure about english :)

No, in english it is centre. In American english it is center. I just got diverted to a 1975 movie because I thought the producers might have wanted to spell the movie's name in the way their language originally existed, but oh well.
To me it will always be centre, who cares if other people want to spell it differently.

This thread is stupid and must be stopped now.

( And it's spelled centre )

Different places in the world spell words differently. That doesn't mean any of the spellings are "better", for goodness sake.

Then from now on, I will spell it CENTERE.

This should solve all this spelling shenanigans.

Only if it was true that you'd say no more.

Isn't the main point that the title of the film should reflect the spelling in the country it is being marketed in?

I have a feeling that in the incredibly unlikely event that Britain had made this film, the spelling of Centre would have been changed to suit the US market for US relase - and rightly so.

I have no objection with the way words are spelt in the US. However, I do ojbect that the US spelling is imposed on the UK for release here. The spelling Centre is wrong... in the UK. I am (only) talking about how the film should be presented over here. Not to change the spelling is rather arrogant I think.

Who gives a flying rat's ass how it's spelled?? It's a movie, and a rather lousy one at that. And yeah, it was quite the contradiction you made there. If I recall correctly, the difference between nuff and Enough is that one isn't and one is an actual word, where as center, and centRE, are completely the same. Consequently, it doesn't really matter how you spell center...either with an ER, or an RE, but it does *beep* matter how you spell ENOUGH you inconceivable waste of sperm and egg. I hope you trip and fall from your pedestal.

reply

It is called "CENTRE", but the American spelling of it is called "CENTER"

Sort of like Armour and Armor, Aluminium and Aluminum, Honour and Honor, etc.

This is such an important issue i'm suprised the US and UK governments haven't been discussing this at the recent G8 meeting.
I can think of no greater or more urgent issue facing the modern world.

It's centre by the way because it's our language so we should have final way on the right spelling. :P
