"Hannah Ásgeirsson" is a man's name

"Ásgeirsson" means "son of Ásgeir". Family names are not a thing in Iceland. I guess they just gave Hanna her father's last name so as not to confuse dum-dums watching this movie, but come on. Icelandic children do not share their father's surname.

Her last name should have been Sigurbjörnsdóttir, as her father's first name was Sigurbjörn.

There is also no Icelandic name that ends on an h, so... good job with the research there, screenwriters.

You are so right about bad research for this film. But maybe they simplified it because it's supposed to be a young person's film.

The OP is quite correct. In Iceland they have patronymics, not surnames. A patronymic is a name derived from the given name of the father. Up until the 1800's in Russia, I understand that it was the same way.

That's actually pretty cool. Learn something new every day.
