Points of deahts in the movie:

Wouldn't the characters have died at these possible points:

1. The Mine shaft, when driving the cart where they made the jump, wouldn't the cart have crashed?

2. When they fell down the tube, falling for what seemed like an eternity but landing in water saved them?

3. When they crossed the "ocean" the giant monsters only ate the fish, despite there were a lot more meat on the 3 characters.

4. The giant fly traps, why didn't they just strangle Trevor, like they did Hannah?

5. The floating rocks, Sean didn't seem to have that good a grip, that he could have held onto it, when turning upside down.

6. The dinosaur, it ran slowly, real slowly, it didn't seem like a dangerous predator, just a slow dog, who couldn't catch it's prey.

7. The hole the dinosaur made when stepping on the cracking ground. Trevor jumped and luckily grabbing a holding rock. Isn't a very slim chance, when everything else collapses around him?

8. When he lit the rocks with the flare, wouldn't they have been boiled alive?

9. When the dinosaur scull erupted and then landed on the mountain, wouldn't it have been crushed and the characters ending up like pancakes?

There are probably a couple more cases, but these are the ones i noticed. Please if they could have survived please explain how, just seems highly unlikely.

I would be glad to explain.

1. The Mine shaft, when driving the cart where they made the jump, wouldn't the cart have crashed?

Not necessarily... If you've ever seen the movie, Speed, with Keanu Reeves, you would understand that while such perilous situations may seem inescapable, simply increasingly the speed of the vehicle you are traveling in will bridge any dangerous gaps.

2. When they fell down the tube, falling for what seemed like an eternity but landing in water saved them?

This is an interesting one. As you can see near the beginning of the movie, Sean's mother drops him off at his nephew's house. From this, we can infer that she packed him all of the essentials he might need. It is not beyond the realm of plausibility to suspect she provided him with 3 bio-mechanical exoskeletons which they were all wearing underneath their clothes thus, providing them with a safe way to descend.

3. When they crossed the "ocean" the giant monsters only ate the fish, despite there were a lot more meat on the 3 characters.

In many recent studies it has been tested and proven that if, in fact, a sea creature had the choice between eating another fish or eating a human (or any mammal for that matter) it will always go for the fish. It is not fully understood why this is true but seemingly, it has something to do with the devil.

4. The giant fly traps, why didn't they just strangle Trevor, like they did Hannah?

If you have ever played the game, Super Mario World, this answer would be apparent to you. The fly traps targeted the female just as in the game, it was the woman who was always in trouble and the man would come to her rescue. Also, Brendan Fraser is an accomplished marathon runner. He could easily destroy such a creature.

5. The floating rocks, Sean didn't seem to have that good a grip, that he could have held onto it, when turning upside down.

This answer is a bit speculative however, I believe it to be the best explanation. From the point where Sean "wakes up" on the beach until the moment when he is saved from the attacking dinosaur, I believe this segment to be a dream sequence. It would explain why there were such fantastical elements such as magnetism and dinosaurs.

6. The dinosaur, it ran slowly, real slowly, it didn't seem like a dangerous predator, just a slow dog, who couldn't catch it's prey.

It has often been said that a dinosaur, no matter what the size, don't like running much.

7. The hole the dinosaur made when stepping on the cracking ground. Trevor jumped and luckily grabbing a holding rock. Isn't a very slim chance, when everything else collapses around him?

This was an exciting point that you brought up. I believe that Trevor knew in advance where the ground would cease to crack. The dinosaur may have known that its only escape from this lonely existence, dwelling underground, was to go along with Trevor's plan and do away with itself by plunging down the cavern. He must have explained to Trevor before the chase ensued, where to leap and grab in order to escape harm.

8. When he lit the rocks with the flare, wouldn't they have been boiled alive?

No. Just as in an airplane, water boils at a higher temperature because of the lower air pressure.. As you go deeper within the Earth the opposite becomes true. So, when Trevor lit the flare and the water rushed out, the reason they were not boiled alive is because, although the water was boiling, it was at a cool and refreshing 78 degrees Fahrenheit.

9. When the dinosaur scull erupted and then landed on the mountain, wouldn't it have been crushed and the characters ending up like pancakes?

For this question, I spent a few hours trying to research and decipher what "scull" means and much to my dismay, I have come up empty handed. However, as to your inquiry about pancakes.. I assure you the the main characters would not find such a delicacy in the country of Italy. The Italian prefer much saltier treats such as pretzels.

So, I hope this help clear up a few things. Let me know if you think these explanations are suitable and if not we can discuss the issues further.

You sir just made my day.
In question nr. 9, I misspelled, it's not a scull, it's a skull.
Just replace the word in the question and it makes sense.
I really like your explanation on the first and 7th question.
Thank you very much, good day to you sir.

But, of course!

This is the best response to an imdb post ever, in the history of forums. Love your sense of humour man, I feel this is what Blackadder would've written if he was real, and existed today.

Or the eighteenth-century British satirist, Junius.

I agree with you, BTW: very funny post. It was one of the best I've seen on IMDb.

I don't envy whoever had to watch Indiana Jones with you.

Actually watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hs8D6zwQhxs
Tells you nicely how Indiana Jones should have ended.
