I seem to forgotten what the neighbor did to Sigourney Weaver's character. At the beginning of the movie we hear Weaver's character say: "how dare she come over after what she did to me" a few times, what did she exactly do?
Another history between them was apparently that Weaver's character slept with the neighbor's husband 18 years earlier (hence the conception of Tim)?

So not only did Weaver sleep with the neighbor's husband 18 years earlier but also another relatively recent event happened between them? And Weaver is the one pissed, not the neighbor? What am I missing (besides the answer to this thread :P)?

the neighbor is kyle's mom. and sandy (sigourney weaver's character) slept with the the neighbor's husband 18 years prior. however, sandy is mad b/c the neighbor told ben about the affair and sandy believes it was a cause for their marital problems. (this plays out during the scene when the neighbor comes over to talk to sandy in the yard, kyle and tim aren't speaking after they slept together; she comes over and says "our sons have taken up our little war") in the end..sandy tells tim that there was a reason his brother and father never treated him like he was one of them...b/c tim's father is kyle's father.
