very rooted in the 90s and grunge


even though this movie is set and made in 2004, there are quite a few 90's music references in the film.

-The use of 'Alive' as the girl's original poem...
-The girlfriend playing a piece of Smashing Pumpkin's Today on the piano...
-The Cobain references
-Kyle's grunge look

I have not watched the commentary yet, so pardon me if the topic was covered on the DVD already...

This does feel like more of a '90s film than a 2000s film – though I loved the scene were Jeff Daniels think Nirvana is still touring. Made for a good mother-son bonding experience.
