Teenage Ecstasy Make-Out

Yeah. I don't really buy that Kyle and Tim had sex like so many posters have said. I'm gay, and as a teenager I had a guy flip out on my for putting my hand on his knee for a split second. And another time I had a guy punch me in the face, and chip my tooth for kissing him. He had kissed back too, haha. So I think a kiss would have been more than enough to confuse them. Plus, they woke up fully-clothed and non-disheveled.

I agree with you, but I like to imagine they did have sex, they're soooooo cute.

As the school motto goes: if you don't snort it, suck it.

thats too funny. i didn't entirely buy the fact that they did much, but i totally agree about fantasizing about it.

reply

sigourney weaver had an affair with the other dudes father so that makes them brothers so it's pretty disturbing if they did have sex...

reply

yeah, but the actors who play them are hot and are unrelated.

reply

Why? Because their babies would be inborn?

Like I said, I've had experiences where straight guys flipped out way worse over way less, or for just a kiss. When you're like 15 or so, I think a kiss would be enough to confuse and upset you. And maybe he, "put my in your [mouth]."

I'm not really saying I don't think it's possible that they had sex, just not totally clear from what was shown. Why was there not an extended scene? If they did have sex the filmmakers should have made it more clear, explicitly clear, haha.

reply

I donĀ“t think they had sex. They just kissed.

I love this topic title.

Doesn't this all depend on what everyone's definition of sex is.

That like with the I remember putting whatever wherever had more than one meaning. I mean oral sex I mean they weren't naked but maybe Tim gave Kyle head who knows?

But I agree I would have LOVED to see that......GAH!

reply

Discussing it further is a moot point - the director and Emile Hirsch say right in the commentary that they had sex. I agree it seems more like oral sex, since I don't think even ecstasy would make a straight man have sex with their best friend and then seem so calm afterwards. I mean, straight guys get bjs from girls, so in that respect, the action of recieving it wouldn't have been so foreign as accepting or administering penile penetration. As far as my opinion, as a straight woman, goes, anyway.

Or was Tim's character supposed to be gay, too? Also, Kyle didn't seem to be struggling with his decision to have sex with that girl at the party (well, until the cops showed up, of course).

Maybe they had always felt an attraction towards each other (obviously, they were best friends), but it had felt stronger than friends and they never knew why (until the confession by Tim's mom). They didn't know what to make of these close feelings and gave in to the desire to try something to see if this action would reveal the meaning behind their closer-then-average feelings. Then they find out their brothers and it makes sense. Well, sorta. I think.

I've got two good posts in me and I just wrote my third...

I've heard 2 different things now.

I've heard the director and Emile say that the boys weren't gay but that they did indeed have full anal penetration gay sex?

That's.....conflicting. And I know there are those who say you can do one without being the other but honestly that in my humble opinion is full of *beep*

This discussion and everything it entails is turning my opinion of this movie from a decent flick to a director trying too hard to be "different" and "shocking". Its making me center the whole experience on this scene and that kinda depresses me. Why can't I get past it now?

I just saw the film and it is clearly Kyle who initiates contact and when they discuss it, he is the one who seems a little disappointed when Tim says it was just the ecstacy and only then he gets defensive and says that Tim might be gay but he definitely isn't. There is also a later scene where he sees Tim blooded and stands up for him in a very macho way. I haven't seen the commentary but to me, it seems clear that Kyle is attracted to Tim rather than the opposite although he clearly doesn't like being labelled as 'gay' (and indeed is attracted to girls too); it also seems very clear that he doesn't know they are brothers, or perhaps that is just wishful thinking on my part.

I just want to say that I hate how the seem to use drugs as a escape for doing "gay actions", or whatever.

I do think it brings out your inner self and makes you intimate, but when I was young 15 and in HS I took E a couple times, the first time with my best friend (he was like a brother) and we never made out or anything... we like hugged and pushed our couches we were sleeping on that night closer toghether (and also acted like army soldiers to escape out back and smoke some weed) which was a total "huge hug we did it moment".

But as a straight male, I am getting sick of these insinuations that Ecstacy makes people "gay" or "homosexual". I can imagine it would help a inner-gay person to maybe comeout or make moves, as it did give me confidence and great feelings around a woman. I only did it a few times in HS...

But it seem lately the USA is trying to literally blame "homosexuality" on ecstacy and meth?

I know they make you horny.... but they don't turn you gay? Anyway I just wanted to comment on that.

Ultimately though I did assume they just messed around that night, kissing at the least, hands or mouth whatever....... The director left that scene at the perfect time. Finding out it's his brother really makes it a dark and confusing little spot, haha.

overall I really enjoyed this flick, can't believe I missed it over the past decade.....
