Ending *SPOILER*

I have a question, and forgive me in advance, i've only seen the movie once and it was quite a while ago.

So, he walks out of that building and looks around seeing that everything is the exact opposite of what it should be, then a narrative voice speaks explaining what happens if your true self dies (he got shot didn't he?). So is he therefore trapped "Inside the mirror" forever?

The ending is a bt unclear, or at least in my head. If my assumption is correct, then i think it's a bit of a lame, unexplained ending, and the hour of events that preceed the last five minutes or so are a complete waste of time. If there are other points to be made though, which there may well be, then i fear i'm missing the point somewhat.

Thanks. :]

yeah I was a bit confused by it as well I think it's a kind of sixth sense he's dead thing I don't know it kind of makes out that the after life is on the other side of a mirror

I think the end is just done for effect - if you try to analyse it, it just doesn't make any sense at all.

For instance - what about the all the other people around him? Are they ghosts?

in my opinion the idea behind this is, that there is a world behind the mirror. the main character in the end is dead in our world, but still alive in the "mirror-world". they aren't really ghosts, they are just counterparts in another dimension. the only failure in my theorie is, that it seems that he replaced his counterpart in the mirror-world, or so ... ;-)

reply

No, you're dead right. Him and the mirror switched place in the fight scene where he was thrown through the mirror. They were actually thrown into each others' worlds, so the copy died in "our" world, and he is stick in the other mirror world.

agree with the earlier comment, the main actor is dead at the end!

what i thought was basically...
you know that other girl (can't remember her name)'s sister died? I thought it was like her sister was trapped inside the mirrors. Then there was that scene at the end where he got shot and he went through one of the mirrors in the shopping centre. I think that showed that he had died and at the same time entered the world of mirrors. Therefore, everything is back to front for him. e.g. writing.

The way I see it is that when he was shot and then shot his mirror world counterpart, they traded places. I get this from the one flashback scene in the ambulance when you see him in reasonably good condition looking at himself choking, clutching his wound and effectively dying in the mirror. So Young-min from the mirror world dies from being shot by Young-min from the real world who now continues to live on in the mirror world.

Definately not the definitive vision of the director by no means. Its just my personal opinion :).

I think you have the solution, in fact they say at the end that if you die IN the mirror the other yourself outside the mirror don't see his reflection anymore.
In fact, as you say well, he die in the mirror and so he don't see his reflection anymore at the end. This is just my opinion tho, but I agree totally with morthvargr_burz.

Wow I just got more confused hahaha. But the explanation sounds good.

the twist is that his counterparty in the mirror has taken over in the real world as he is now dead.

AND what you were seeing in the film as being the sister is not the sister! its her mirror counterpart having taken over in the real world, that is the twist.

reply

It couldn't have been the dead sister's mirror counterpart, because you see her reflection in the mirror as well as her in the real world. If the dead sister had crossed to the real world, then we wouldn't see her reflection when she was in front of a mirror. Because she is the reflection... I don't really make sense.
