I know its the obvious Question but...

Is Ryan Carnes Gay in real life?

Im not trying to incriminate him or anything, but it would make some fantasies so much better if I knew he was attainable.

I mean: He played a gay character in this movie, he plays a gay character on Desperate housewives, and hes on a daytime soap. could that mean something?

(I hope so)

Yep... that's the $64,000 question... inquiring minds want to know :)

I'm sorry to say he's straight. On Access Hollywood not long ago, talking about Desperate Housewives, they described him as a straight actor. The clip of the show is available here:

At least he's not afraid to play gay characters.

It's really hard to say whether he is gay or not, and we might not know until he is in his 30s or 40s, or we might never find out!

Let's be honest, no matter how much we think that society is cool with gay and lesbian people, coming out as an openly gay actor / actress (especially in Hollywood) will defintely be a burden rather than an advantage (unless the only characters you intend to play are nothing but gay).

Especially if you want to eventually star in big-budget Hollywood film, there's no way a producer / director would cast an openly gay actor to play a serious straight character in a big-budget film, unless it's a comedy where the 'straight' character (played by the gay actor) is part of the joke, or an independent film in which the 'star' factor is not an issue in casting. So, the best policy for young actors who are gay is to 'act straight', so that they won't get typecast.

Having said that, I have no doubt that some Hollywood actors (well known or not so well known) are gay, lesbians or bisexual. However, for their career's sake, most of them will tend to keep their sexuality hidden until they are in their 30s or 40s, when they finally get sick of acting (as an actor) and 'acting' (pretending they are straight), or when they feel that they have been an successful actor in their own right and they are confident that people will recognise them as serious actors rather than 'gay' actors.

Does that make any sense?
