When will Company K be released on DVD

Does anyone know when and where this film will surface on DVD?

I've been in contact with the production company and they said "spring 2005". I'm eagerly awaiting this movie. The book is great!

Thanks for asking the question. I also enjoyed the book and was wondering when this movie would be released.

I just bought "Company K" on DVD, I don't want to spoil the movie for those of our IMDb members who haven't seen the movie yet, but it's sad what the marines did just about one hour into the film. ----- I've got about twenty minutes of the movie to watch and the war just ended at 84 minutes into the movie. One very well done war movie but very disturbing at the same time. ----- Rusty

If you can see this without buying it then do, but I wouldn't spend money on it. It's not a very well told story.

A lot of the dialogue is forced or contrived, even to the point where a number of characters talk to themselves out loud, sacrificing any sense of realism, as a tool to get something obvious across to the audience. Some of it is so blatant the director might have well of stuck his head in the frame and said "Ok guys, so the reason this character just did/said that is because he feels like guilty, and i'm using that scene to cleverly show you audience members that the war is futile. Get it?".

Unfortunately it's all been done and said before, and it's been done much better. This isn't even a new take on the same old message: "War is bad but men are brave".

TOTALLY disagree. Disregard the above comment and search out this movie. It is CHEAP online....

There are some really impressive individual scenes but the film is terribly disjointed and lacks any cohesion:Characters are introduced throughout the film which causes confusion and destroys any flow to the narrative. It`s a shame really as there are some good ideas here with competent acting and decent battle scenes.

I would recommend at least renting the DVD: though the rental version may not allow access to some of its extras, it does have a commentary track featuring the writer/director.

He tries to explain away some of its shortcomings, in part, due to budget constraints, but also, in part, due to trying to remain staying true to the novel. Yes, the characters talk to themselves in the novel, and probably, at times, out loud. Likewise, yes, the pop-ups introducing some of the characters appear silly, but each chapter in the book was named by its featured character.

Perhaps the disappointment some of its viewers has had was due to its "R" rating. The raters' explanation was "war violence" but probably as much to do with the pervasive use of tobacco. With its minimal use of sex, gore or "rough language," even within the brothel scenes, this film could be seen at early prime-time on any network, without editing.

Yes, the social upheavals and personal disillusionment following WW-I have been presented many times before, and often much better, but as we approach the centennial of our participation in The Great War, it might be good to be reminded of its outcomes.
