Rocco needs to grow up!

Yes he is a chef and part owner, but its also his job to make sure there is profit, if something needs fixing u do it! It doesn't take a MBA or 20 years in the business to recognize that. He needs to swallow his pride big time!

Also, did anyone else notice that this episode seemed to be built up and then nothing. "call my lawer." is that supposed to send chills down my spine?!

reply

I totally agree.

I LOVE The Restaurant and I think Rocco is HOT, but besides all that - why doesn't he work with Jeffrey so that Rocco's 22nd can start making money? Maybe he's mad about the way Jeffrey was speaking to him, I mean we didn't get to see the meeting in Mama's apartment.

It was kind of built up, yes. I'm still enjoying it though.

Does anyone know how long this season is going? Is it 6 episodes like the first season?

i agree, it doesn't take an MBA to realize that your business isnt making profit...but who said that Rocco wasn't aware of the financial situation that the restaurant was in? The reason why Jefferey stepped in was that nothing was being done to turn it around...i imagine that both Jefferey and Rocco were aware of the profit issues when they first became an issue...the thing is that Jefferey responded by allowing Rocco a chance to turn it around...and i dunno what Rocco's specific reactions were to the lack in profits but i'd like to assume that he had some plan to try and get the restaurant making some money...

I think the reason why Rocco was upset was the belief that Jefferey wanted to swoop in and be the hero of something that he (Jeff) didn't really take part in to begin with

i dunno what Rocco's background in business is but assuming he has no formal business education, he should be given some slack...his forte is food, and the restaurant that he's a part of isn't some small, backlot, mom-and-pop operation...one man can't run it on his own!!!

i agree that Rocco can be childish at times but there were some issues with the "corporate task force" that i thought he was justified in being angry about...Jefferey has some growing up to do himself...he's mismanaged that restaurant from the get-go

reply

this is what i think....

when i heard that nbc wanted to do a new season of the restaurant they said that that happened right when this BS between Jeffery and Rocco started to happen. They were not doin the show because of this, they stated that it merely happened while they were planning another season. So I would not be suprised if they made this issue a bigger deal than it was on purpose for the sake of the show, publicity, and money. Because when you are partners... your partners. And the way these too act just doesn't seem legit. to me.

I sing and dance around the house in my underwear, doesn't make me madonna, never will

reply

i understand what you mean...

but when Rocco was on The Tonight Show, Jay asked him what was his worst mistake...

Rocco replied that going into business with Jefferey Chadorow was his worst mistake...

if the animosity between the two guys was just for show i dont think they would goes as far as to smear Jefferey's name...

it's possible that it's a publicity stunt that is being taken to the extreme but i doubt that that's the case...

Rocco even said on the Tonight Show that the animosity wasn't a publicity stunt, and before you start callin me naive, think about this...why would Rocco jeopardize his credibility for a measly reality show? The things he's doing in life are much bigger than the show

reply

Yeah, Rocco did say that taking Jeffrey as a partner was his worst mistake.

From talking to people I think that a lot of people are taking Jeffrey's side and saying that Rocco is childish. But we aren't seeing everything and we aren't getting the full picture from all points of view. The show is definitely edited to show drama, drama, drama so it gets good ratings.

I dont think Rocco is as childish as everything thinks. I think he has good reason to act the way he does. Especially if all Jeffrey does is throw him ultimatums.

Rocco told Jeffrey at the end of the last episode that he wants to be involved with the restaurant TWICE, and Jeffrey walked away saying, "If Rocco doesn't call me by 6 o'clock tomorrow I'm hiring a new chef!" What the hell was that?

You're right, Jeffrey is childish too and Rocco can't ruin that place all on his own. I think Jeffrey and Rocco have different styles and can't agree on how to run this restaurant.......I think in the preview for next week I did see that Jeffrey hires a new chef to replace Rocco.

He wanted Rocco to call hm at 6am to see if he could follow directions. It's a ploy that many owners use.

Jeffrey doesn't care if he told him he wants to stay now, because the directions were "Call me at 6am". Therefore, if there is no call at 6am, he can not follow directions and doesn't want to stay. If Rocco didn't call and then later said "I told you at the meeting." J could pull a "Did I get a call at 6? Yes or no?", like a slick lawyer.

Yeah, it's part power trip, but that's his right as an owner.

J is all business and from the looks of his house, he does a damn fine job of running businesses.

reply

Amen to that.

I think the advertisements are so offbase and completely stupid -- depicting Rocco's business partner as some kind of "bad guy". Come on, if I loan you millions of dollars to open and run a successful restaurant and then you fail to take the job seriously and spend all your time doing other things that don't work towards making the restaurant successful then I would do exactly the same thing and come and climb on your ass.

I don't have any sympathy for Rocco at this point. He needs to wipe his butt and get to work. Or else look for another sucker to pay his bills.

Maybe Mama will go stand on the street corner for him?

reply

I completely agree with the previous poster. Jeffery doesn't get to be people like Jeffery(obviously very successful, look at the car & his house) by investing in a partnership with someone and letting the business go bankrupt and watch all of his money blow out the door. J is only trying to make the place profitable. You can't blame him for that. I think he's handled this very professionally.
I think it's also true that we are not getting the whole scoop from Rocco's side. Rocco is making himself look like an incompetent "manager" of his own business (cause I don't think Rocco is really that stupid). He seems to be only interested in heightening his "celebrity status". If he doesn't take the reigns and turn his restaurant around there won't BE a restaurant to run. Hell, Mama works harder than he does !!

reply

Maybe the advertisements show Jeffery as a bad guy but, I was watching an episode on Bravo this week, where Tony gets fired. I thought the lead into the show was very unbiased for both sides, heh which I thought was kinda surprising because I watch the show pretty regularly when I catch it on and they were like on the last episode Rocco was trying his best... but in my opinion Rocco has been a power-mongering, do-nothing hypocrite.

I think anyone who watches the shows can definetly see that Jeffery is not that bad guy, but very ethical and trying his best to turn the restaurant profitable and very respectable to Rocco to his face, though snide at times when discussing Rocco behind his back, which I can't hold against him seeing how Rocco acts.

reply

Jeffrey wasn't a bad guy. It's simple, Rocco is a semi celebrity chef, Jeff financed the restaurant and it was losing money. Either the restaurant was run poorly or someone is skimming off the top. Either way Jeffrey had to take care of business.
