Debra Messing's nose

Please don't get me wrong, I think Debra Messing is just gorgeous, but I'm a little surprised that she's never done anything to make a subtle change to her profile. I guess I have to give her props for remaining natural in a world of overly done cosmetic surgery, but with her means, and the very best of surgeons available, it just strikes me that it would take an awful lot of willpower for me not to make a bit of a change to her fairly large nose (if I were her). Has anyone seen her speak at all about this, or have it spoken about by others?

reply

Oh, for God's sake. There's nothing wrong with the woman's nose.

Total props to her for being happy with exactly what she looks like. And total d*psh*t to you, pal. Do you have any idea how miserable most women are in their daily lives because they worry about their face, their breasts, their butts, their weight? No matter how *beautiful* they are, they still know there are d*psh*ts like you appraising their every feature.

How many are anorexic? How many bulemic? How many just depressed? How many addicted to plastic surgery as a means of improving on perfection?

And yet the guys they hook up with can be paunchy, and bald, and *still* think they're god's gift to women?

To all of you who think all women should look alike, may I suggest the classic Twilight Zone episode, Number 6 Looks Just Like You. It's what we're headed for, unfortunately.

Wow, Barbara-4... Do you have anger issues or what?? Read my post again, and then read yours. You can't rationally think that my "curious post" deserved your "cursing rage", but it's hard to tell if you're actually a rational person. It's a message board, and I was simply interested to know if the subject has/had come up, or if anyone had an opinion. Nothing like "killing a mosquito with a sledgehammer"!

There's no question that what is on the inside is far more important than what is on the outside. Hopefully you can resolve whatever is "inside" you, because it's not very pretty.

reply

What an idiot. And what an embarassing response.

Would be a big mistake is she had a nose job. Granted, it's not the most 'aesthetic' nose but it's part of her identity and in the end it suits her face. Even with the best surgeons available she'd run the risk of ending up like Jennifer Gray (Baby from Dirty Dancing) who had surgery done on her nose and now people don't recognise her anymore.

Jeez, jlnriddick, no need to attack Barbara-4 for sharing her opinions. I agree it's ridiculous for you to find a fault in this woman who IS so gorgeous, and I would have NEVER thought myself that there was ANYTHING wrong with her nose. Get over it!

reply

I think jlnriddick has every right to "attack" Barbara-4 for "sharing her opinion" after how she replied to their post. There was no need for her to react like that, and definitely no need for name-calling. It's childish and immature.

It seems odd to me that someone posting a question can be in the wrong when someone else launched into a tirade against them, completely unprovoked. The 'women being put down' argument does not wash here, by the way - the OP was not putting women down, thy were asking a question. I didn't pick up on anything like sexism in the OP. I read it as surprise that she hadn't altered her appearance with so much pressure from others having plastic surgery for the slightest imperfection. The OP does not say that she should have it changed either.

I'd also like to add that I'm female and yes, I have many concerns about my appearance. I'm always being told that I'm too thin and no one likes a coat hanger/bag of bones/girl with the body of a pre-pubescent boy. How about we try and put a stop to the attacks on naturally skinny girls before attacking someone for bringing up the subject of someone's nose? Apparently it's fine to criticise someone's appearance unless they're big (not fat necessarily, just big) or have an unconventional appearance.

For anyone who reads this thread, agrees with Barbara-4 and then wonders why I'm bringing this up...just ask yourselves this: have you ever in your life criticised someone for being skinny? Have you ever claimed that only curvy women are "real"? Have you ever stated that only anorexic girls can wear "size zero" clothes? Have you ever laughed at girls with almost non-existent breasts and compared them to little boys? If you answer yes to any of those questions, you are no better than someone who comments on Debra Messing's nose.

I apologise for the rant.

I find the surgeromania in Hollywood more than ridiculous - striving for what they believe to be perfection in the end kills all individualism.
If I watch a current tv show, and I rarely do, I am hardly able to distinguish the female actresses.
Who is to decide what a face or body should look like?
Debra Messing is a very beautiful, sensual woman with natural charm and great comedic timing.

Her nose is sexy!
It cames with her personality!

march-is-gone: Who appointed you the morality police? Anyone can say what they please, right, wrong or indifferent and ridicule and criticize them in any way they choose, whether it be by a manipulative individual like yourself, who would insist that everyone believe as you do because somehow you are ennobled by your lack of judgement; B%&lS7(t!

reply

Johnrupertg: Christ what a tool!

Your post s sickening. March-is-gone was only asking for a bit of compassion and for people to stop, use their brains and be considerate of the feelings of others before making negative comments about a their physical appearance.

And you call that being manipulative? What a Neanderthal. I don't usually name call, but I make zero apologies on this occasion.

@holly-hibbs : YOU are simply ridiculous! No need for the rage and no need to bring anything like anorexia. It was a valid question. Maybe you are Barbara-4 with a different name, what other reason would you have to defend her?

It is not that there is anything wrong with her nose, it is a VALID question about a Hollywood actress not following the usual path for others in the same career.

Not a critique, just a question on the Hollywood issues, read again and keep the rage to yourselves!

She attacked him. Because she's too immature to realize that he's allowed to have his own opinion about matters like these.

To jlnriddick:
As one who has been there, I feel I have a right to speak about your statement.
I don't think there is anything wrong with asking the question.
I had a "nose job" (at 18 years of age) due to a car accident that totally changed my life in more ways than one. Yes, I looked prettier but it made me realize how superficial people can be. I was exactly the same person on the inside that I always was but all of a sudden I was turning heads, and I started to resent that. It was a very subtle change but it made a huge difference. Whenever I ran into someone I knew growing up and thay would ask me what I have done, I just told them I got rid of the glasses and got contact lenses, he-he...

reply

I have discussed this crucial question with friends many times. (I guess we should go out and get lives, but that's another subject.) I was under the impression the lovely Ms. Messing did have a nose job. In the two SEINFELD episodes she was in her nose looked significantly bigger than it did when she was on WILL AND GRACE. But last night I saw THE WEDDING DATE and I was surprised how big her nose looked. (I'm not mocking her; I've always liked prominent noses on women.) I guess on WILL AND GRACE they used makeup, lighting and camera-angle tricks to make her nose look smaller. Still one fabulous babe, in any event.

You're asking why she doesn't pay someone tens of thousands of dollars to break her nose and reconstruct it, possibly causing infections and subjecting herself to other dangers (that no one talks about) in order to look like someone else? I feel this obsession with children's noses on grown women is a passing fad -- note that it isn't any bigger than Barbara Stanwyck's or other great women of Hollywood. Indeed, no one ever asked why Audrey Hepburn didn't get one, and her nose was bigger than Debra's, and famous for causing the need for compensatory hairstyles, lighting, and why they always made her hold her nose up when shooting in profile...In my experience no one I've ever met who has had a nose job looked as pretty or interesting once the work was done (except J-Lo and someone else I know who was born with a harelip). But they sure thought they looked great, and I guess that's what's important.

reply

i didn't even notice her nose. One question, are you self-conscious about your own nose?

reply

Yeah. It's hard not to look at from certain angles and close-ups. I think she has had work done since then though, after seeing this picture:

mecassid, I believe she has stated in articles that she has had a nose job, although I think it was early in her career. I also agree that it did not turn out well. She has very petite features and her nose overwhelms her face. She also has a very petite body frame, although tall. During this movie, I had a hard time concentrating on some scenes of the movie as I couldn't stop staring at her large nose, as they shot so many of the scenes in profile. A good surgeon could keep the shape and "spirit" of her nose while taking just a tiny amount off and making it better fit the scope of her face. A good example would be Ashley Simpson. She was famous before she had her nose done. She had a very subtle change made, but it really balances her face and makes a huge difference, although her nose hardly changed at all.

To each their own...opinion

reply

Yes..in profile her rather large nose was a little distracting...and I think the OP was GENTLY curious about it..so for the knee jerk haters..reeeelllaaxx....having said all that..I do not think this gorgeous woman should ever get a nose job..(or do anything more if she in fact has had stuff done)... she is gorgeous and sexy because it all works for her. Just like Sarah Jessica Parker and the horrible comments she gets for sometimes looking a little horsey..or too severe with her make-up..her quirky features all add up to a gorgeous sexy woman....far more interesting than the boring..perfect classic beauties..who normally do not have the warm inviting and funny personalities to back them up..like Debra Messnig and SJP.

You pipple mek my ass twitch

reply

I am so distracted by your signature that I can't even read your post. I think Debra Messing is fine.

reply

The signature is from 'French Kiss', where Meg Ryan is doing an impersonation of Kevin Kline with a French accent.
I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be nosy, (pun intended...lol), but I agree, I think Debra Messing is beautiful just the way she is.

If you can't be good...well hell, be good at it!

Watching it now and thought the same thing.

I find her nose a bit distracting in profile (which I know isn't the OP's point).

Anyway I am surprised she didn't get it done... actually I assumed she HAD had it done and it went wrong
