Watched this movie yesterday

I am a huge fan of P. Mérimée's novel and always want to watch a Carmen movie.
I just watched this movie yesterday and I was glad; it was not the original story, but still.
I often wondered who would be good to play Carmen role. So far I could only think of Claudia Cardinal in her young age.
