"... what's in Iowa..."

Besides Iowa being one of the largest agricultural producing states in the US, with world-wide distribution, Iowa is also headquarters for many of the nation's financial and insurance institutions. Because of its agricultural resources, Iowa companies are on the front line of biotechnology research, and production of alternative fuels such as BioDiesel and Ethanol. Gateway (the computer company) was actually founded in Iowa, as were Amana, Maytag, Pioneer Hi-Bred, Casey's General Stores, and Ruan.

Iowa also has plenty of natural resorces and recreation areas for people to enjoy, and the annaul RAGBRAI bike ride draws cyclists from around the world.

I think I'll stop now, and submit my resume to the Iowa Tourism Board. :-)

Is MTW one of the main characters in this film?

don't forget about the new jordan creek mall!! actually i'm just kidding, i think it's horrible for iowa all it caters to are the peeps in wdsm.

that's true, i tried going there a couple of days ago, and nearly 90% of the stores were clothing stores, and the food court was really small.

Someone asked "What's in Iowa anyway?"

Not a whole heckuva lot but what we do have is great!
Many people often dismiss Iowa and a land of cornfields and boredom.
Yes, it's true that we have a ton of cornfields (try detasseling in them and think of the film "Children of the Corn" YIKES!)but Iowa has a certain innocence and charm that no other state I have ever been to possesses.
The only one drawback I can think of is that the people here can't drive for sh*t! Be careful if you're driving a car here.

I was born & raised here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and have lived here my entire life.

In my opinion, the number one place everyone should go to if they visit Iowa is the Field Of Dreams Movie Site.
Remember the film with Kevin Costner where he builds a baseball diamond out of a cornfield?

Well it has been kept in its original pristine condition all these years.
Anyone can go there and play baseball for free!

I have been there and let me tell you, it truly is a magical place...especially if you watch the film beforehand.

check out www.fieldofdreamsmoviesite.com for more info on both the field and the movie.

i've lived in Iowa most of my life too, and i have to say the firld of dreams field is nothing special, just a baseball field in the middle of nowhere. i guess it would be better to go when the corn is high, get that ghostly effect. i love the movie, though! my first grade teacher was one of the front cars driving to the field in the end of the movie.

I live by the river, so let's not forget all the casinos and riverboat gambling that's to be had in Iowa!

We've got the same stuff here as in a lot of places for recreation. There's the movie theaters including IMAX (w00t), various places to go downhill skiing, shopping malls, museums, etc.

In addition to the bicycle race, there's also foot races, such as the Bix 7, held every year as part of the Bix festival by the river. Other celebrations like the Freedom Fest, Oktoberfest, etc.

The Crystal Meth thing I heard about when I was in college ('97-'02), with "meth labs" being shut down every couple of months it seemed like as I read in the news, so sounds like it could be an interesting movie. Hopefully it won't be too stereotypical as hicksville USA. ; )
