It's about crystal meth and how it affects the lives of two young lovers in Rural Iowa.

reply

Why the Southern accents? I've lived in Iowa all of my life, and no one talks that way.

reply

Centerville is on the interesection of HWY 2 and HWY 5, i live there, the movie is about the meth problem in Iowa, i should know, damn production lights kept me awake for 3 weeks. The only thing Centerville really has is a big lake. I know quit a few of the extra's. I'm interested in seeing this movie.

reply

I hope they didn't give the rural Iowans southern hick accents like they do in some movies.

reply

I know! Lots of telemarketing companies and call centers are located in Iowa because Iowans have such neutral accents. If there is an Iowa accent, it's just to speak a little slower.

reply

sorry to say, but i have already heard from people who have seen the movie that, yes, some have southern accents.

reply

I just started watching it and I am so P*SSED!! The two main characters have southern accents!!@! I FRACKING HATE HOLLYWOOD!!! They are ignorant about us and I wish they would just fall in the damned ocean!!!

reply

The Southern accents ruined the movie for me. Do a little research first. Iowa is one of the most high educated states in the country. Not only that, but news casters (including Tom Brokaw) come here to learn how to speak effectively, without a discernible accent.

Everything in this movie is also old, as if Iowan don't have access to a Best Buy or even a Wal*Mart!

This is an awful movie. Not a good depiction of life in Iowa at all.

reply

Agreed. I've lived in this state for 24 years (all my life), and descended from a family of farmers. I have relatives all over the state, and have frequented every region of Iowa multiple times. I can count, on one hand, how many times I've heard accents like that from Native Iowans.

We have the most boring accent in the world - none at all.

reply

For those that don't have a map... Centerville is South-SouthEast of Des Moines, about, what, 10-15 miles North of the Missouri-Iowa border... Just a little-bit east of the mid-point of the souther border of Iowa.

reply

I just came upon this too. I also live in Iowa. Where abouts do you live in Iowa?

reply

i grew up in des moines and go to collrge at the UI, but i now reside in california. iowa is pretty fuc@ing cool and that's a fact. my best friend's mom grew up in centerville, kinda a craphole if you know what i mean. definitely butthole, iowa. and i hope they don't give the people in the movies hickish accents either, that would suck. only iowans can do that, as a joke.

*ahem* Fort Dodge *cough*

I lived all over Iowa growing up and my husband is from Waterloo. Most of our family still live there. So we go back at least once a year. We live in Texas now and I wouldn't move back to Iowa if they paid me! (Though my husband has thoughts of returning someday...) That being said, Iowa wasn't a bad place to grow up; it does have its good points (just not the weather!). But, I'm glad I don't live there anymore.

There is a major problem in Iowa, Minnesota (other states I'm sure) wherein people are (I apologize for my spelling) cyphoning anhidreous amonia from the county co-ops in rural areas.

reply

Centerville is my mom's hometown. I grew up in Sheldon, Iowa (northwest corner), but now live in Atlanta. Can't wait to see the movie!

reply

"siphoning anhydrous ammonia"

We can spell in Iowa, too.

reply

Ha, I don't know about that. We do know our chemistry, though.
*pure sarcasm follows* Maybe in them 'burbs, but for some of them city kids, spellin's a chore.
*end of sarcasm*

reply

Hey, we are good spellers. Five years ago I was the runner up in the state spelling bee. It was fun. I was born in Sioux City, seven years ago moved to Spirit Lake and now I live in Milford (NW Iowa, Dickinson County, border Minnesota). My dad used to be a cop, so I know all about the drug problem in Iowa. We are the meth capital of the world!

reply

i am from burlington

reply

Grimes (suburban Des Moines) to Redondo Beach, Calif., to Indianapolis.

Iowa is cool and I'm proud to be from there. Indiana is nice too, but it's not Iowa. California? Well the weather beats all.

reply

Marcus Iowa is where it's at.
