I am surprised this movie got such a low rating. I think it had lots of heart and emotion. I cried! Robin Williams is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!
shareDavid's script was amazing as was Anton's acting. I cried watching this movie and I continue to watch it as many times as possible.
They need to give David and everyone else more credit for a job well done. Period. End of story.
I think it's because most people who saw this film thought it was rubbish, me included. Just because David's tiny last remaining core of die hard fans refuse to see it as anything other than a triumph doesn't mean everyone else will, and they need to wake up one day and discover that ( but I think it's highly unlikely they ever will. ) Anyone willing to stand in the street and hand out tickets* to complete strangers is not likely to fasce reality soon. ( *tickets they bought with their own money which many couldn't afford to do while David is wealthy ) :(
I waited a LONG time to see this film in the UK but to be honest I now wish I hadn't bothered.
Or maybe people just have different tastes than you and just because you hate doesn't mean it's bad.

I agree with you and wish I hadn't been so aggressive about things back then. ( But in my defense I was still a teenager!!! ) However I still believe House of D is just not very good, and many people apparently agree. Perhaps most people.
Apologists accused the distributor of failing to promote and publicise this film, but even if that was the case it doesn't explain the low rating because you'd imagine only David's die hard fans would have sought it out and then rated it.
David's fans tell each other House of D was marvelous and every one loved it, but the truth is it wasn't well received out side the small circle of David's crazed fans. I'm a huge fan of David but I though this film was rubbish and actually felt rather embarrassed for him.
