Legal question, any lawyers here?

Could he be prosecuted for murder for pulling the plug on his mother? She was brain dead so morally what he did was a mercy killing like Kavorkian but legally would it be murder? Murder technically has no statute of limitations so in theory could he be arrested as a middle aged man because he returned to USA (and France probably has an extradition treaty).

Yes he was never caught but I just mean a hypothetical "if".

Would he be tried as an adult? He was only 14 at the time but murder is pretty serious. Would his mental state at the time be taken into consideration for a reduced charge (maybe 2nd degree murder or tried as minor?)
