Bernie Mac easy going if his daughter's boyfriend was black.

He came off as a real cool guy to Mike Epps when he thought he was his daughter's boyfriend. Outside of the whole race issue he may have, I wonder how much of a hard-ass in anyway he'd be if race was not the only issue.

BTW I have a question, off the subject. How did you get the name biggacy, just curious ?

I noticed that Mike Epps even seemed to make a suggestive comment about making her happy and Percy enjoyed it whereas the very notion of sexual intimacy with Simon was disturbing to him.

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time Del Boy, it's them that started me drinking!

I don't think he would have been any "easier" on a black boyfriend. I mean, once the mistake was known, Epps said he would be "down with making your daughter happy" and he told him to take a hike or something. I'm pretty sure fathers start planning their questions as soon as their daughters come into the world.

No he doesn't. He takes it in very good stride.

Percy: You doing everything in your power to make her happy?
Epps: I'm not sure if I am, but I'd sure like a crack at it.
Percy: (smiling) Boy, I ought to drill you, man. I like him.

Then as soon as he realises his mistake he takes it out on Epps almost as if he's annoyed Epps isn't the boyfriend.

Hey! You're not old enough to drink! Now go and die for your country!!!

I saw that scene completely differently. I have the "United Nations" in my family based on biology or marriage and people ALWAYS assume people are married to somebody of their same race FIRST. Unless you're at an interracial/multiracial event, the general population makes these assumptions almost every time.

So, let's say that he made this assumption just because it's the norm. After that, he would want to make sure his daughter's suitor is her intellectual/financial equal. Depending on religious preferences (or non-preferences) that would be considered also. There are a LOT of people that don't accept their offspring's marriage choices and it's NOT based on just one thing. It happens so much that it's practically subconscious.

He was fine with it because the portrayed black guy was supposed to work for JP Oliver and be on the fast track to good money while holding a great job.

Bernie's character was all over the black guy and even joking about sex with him.

As soon as it was revealed that Ashton's character was the man she was dating, Percy's tone changed completely. He was then hostile to the black guy because he knew he was a lowly cab driver and clearly not her boyfriend... just another guy looking to get a piece.
