Ending reshoot?

Apparently 2 weeks before release, they reshot the ending for $200,000.

What was the original ending before the reshoot?

Word for word it is probably 60% same..... but after Bourne leaves the Netski girls house he wakes up in a Moscow milatery hospital with Pam looking over him with his file.... we basically get the same "thanks for your help.... off the record, you know how it is" lines... Pam exists the room and speaks to her assistant, then goes back into the room to see Bourne gone, cut to Extreme Ways and see Bourne walking off down a Russian street into the end credits.

This ending proved very unpopular in test screenings, so they brought Matt off the set from Oceans 12 in Europe for a days shoot to refilm it with the New York ending.

Believe it is/was on Youtube and was included on the Supremacy DVD as a extra, but was encypted so you could watch it.

The ending in this sequel is likely my personal favorite in the entire Bourne series. I couldn’t think of a smoother ending that stays true to who the character is.

Reading how the original - more cliche - ending was, I am sure thankful they reshot it. :) So much better indeed.

Interesting. I looked up the original ending on the youtube. The change was definitely for the better, that ending sucked.

I personally would have cut the film with Bourne collapsing in the snow after confessing his sins to the Neski girl. Is he alive? Is he dead? Who knows. Thematically, "Bourne" is dead with the resolution of this film. Play the song.

Him confessing to Irena Neski and walking away was the true ending of the movie, but they had to sign it off on a more upbeat note for general audiences.

The more I think about your idea, the more I like it. When he collapses, Irena is the only one who sees it and thus is the only one who can save him. Would she do so after what he just told her? I'd say probably not, but the movie ends on that ambiguous note.
