The MOVIE WarCraft

Today it came to my mind suddenly that maybe oneday someone would like to create the movie after this game.

Would you go to see this movie?

And why would you or wouldn't you do that.....

Thanx in advanse.

reply

I think Lord of the Rings is quite close. Orcs, elves, humans, etc... I could be wrong but I think this game might be based slightly around Tolkien's mythology.

"The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udun. Go back to the shadow!"

reply

It actualy is.

But it has been a little bit more advanced.
Have You heard about the undeads in Tolkien's novels?

reply

Yes. I've read the books.

What about them?

"The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udun. Go back to the shadow!"

reply

I'm talking about the undead race in the Tolkien's novels...
That's what about them!!!

reply

Yes, yes there were no Undead in Tolkien's novels, but there weren't night elves either now was there! Ha, burn, in your face! No just kidding, but I'm reading Warcraft: War of the Anceints: The Demon Soul and I've read the first one and I think that would be a awesome book to base the Warcraft movie on. And I was thinking of a Warcraft movie about a year ago after I finshed the first War of the Anceints novel. See all the dragons and night elves fighting the demons. Now that would make a good movie I would surely go see it

reply

Me too!!!

reply

You to what? You're reading the Demon Soul or you have read Well of Eternatity. Sorry I'm slow and I'm always confuzzled.

May the serne light of the Mother Moon illuminate your paths.

reply

Me too - mean I would go to see WarCraft flick...:-)

reply

Oooooh. Ya I'm sure everyone would flock to a WarCraft movie. If you get the World of Warcraft collectors edition you get a art book and I heard from a friend that it says that it is a high possabilaty to have a WarCraft motion picutre. I'll put the thread ULR

All the common between these two worlds ends with the names being used. After that WOW has a totally different layout, its far superior and richer than LOTR.

reply

Good idea. But you think they wouldn't have enough money to make 5 movies. I dunno. And it's Elune not Allune if that's what you were trying to spell.

I heard that J. Travolta was going to make all the parts of the Battlefield Earth but did only one for it failed....

I hope if they do WarCraft nothing like that happens. :-)

I would only get behind a Warcraft film(s) if the crew that did the CG cinematics for the games did the movie too. Frankly I think this franchise would be best realized in full-CG. A LotR-esque mix of CG with live actors and conventional effects would be ok too, but it's much more expensive to do it that way and if they don't do it right, it looks horrible. Blizzard has shown that they're on top of the game when it comes to CG cinematics, I think they're fully capable of creating a feature-length CG film.

reply

It'd be great if the glimpse we caught in the cinematic videos of Warcraft was brought in a movie, and I'd certainly go and see that one.

If there's a chance for this to happen, I'd place my bets on Blizzard Entertainment taking a leading role in the making of this film. Any other attempt at it, would be a waste in my opinion.

So the way I see it, there could be a (fairly large) group of people that finally produce a 2-hour long movie in the same way Blizzard's made their stunning videos. And I believe Blizzard can do that, I think the budget wouldn't be extraordinarily high (I doubt they'd need all the equipment involved in the making of Final Fantasy SW, or pay immense amounts of money to some super-star to duplicate them in 3D), and I also believe most (if not all) of the fans would definitely go see that movie, and it'd draw even more lovers of the fantasy genre to it. So my bet is it'd work best as a new kind of animation genre...

Now as to a movie with actors in the same way as LoTR, it has immense chances of failure IMO, because, it would need two or three times the LoTR budget to make it (so many fantastic creatures involved, and other stuff), it'd need a challenging script, and many things would change from what we were used in WarCraft imagery.

It can be done with a litle help from blizzard .Blizzard could do a movie about a game it will be the perfect comercial for a new game lets say warcraft 4.I am sure that if the movie will have succes the game will sell as fresh bread.

reply

This is my idea they should make Warcraft: Reign of Chaos based on Warcraft 3 (and probably W3 frozen throne i havent played that yet) that will be what I will do. then make a prequel after that.

Most fantasy is based more or less on LOTR

Sides, a movie IS coming up..

Or well, a fantasy movie named Warcraft..
I assume that it's based on the game.

reply

When and where did you hear this?

Yes I would see it, and buy it on DVD. Because I am a dedicated Blizzard fan and I play Warcraft 3 ROC, and Warcraft 3 FT, and Starcraft.
