NEVER Rent movies from 'The director of Boogyman'

Don't fall for this marketing ploy. This is some NO-BUDGET crap director that films his movies with a cheap Mini-DV camera and names most of his titles similar to a movie that's already out. For instance, ZODIAC Killer is another one of his steaming pile of crap that for some reason has a national release. Even the movie "Boogyman" is not the one from just a few years ago, it's another one of his pieces of crap.

THIS IS FALSE MARKETING AND THIS DIRECTOR AND THE PRODUCERS/PRODUCTION COMPANY SHOULD BE SUED!!!

I fell for it once, my fiance fell for it again. The covers on the DVD look great, that's the only thing that's quality, but as the saying goes, don't judge a book by it's cover!!!!!!!

You're posting this on the wrong messageboard. This messageboard is for a film directed by Ramzi Abed. It's NOT the Ulli Lommel film. Abed didn't make "Boogeyman" or whatever. It's really too bad that Abed is going to have so much negative word of mouth, even though his movie still hasn't come out!

And yes, I've heard that the Lommel film you're talking about is indeed really bad. Anyhow, I also noticed that there isn't even a page for the film you're talking about, so maybe that's why everyone is posting about it on this other movie's page. YIKES!

Lommel's movie is listed on its own now on this site.

I read everywhere how bad it was but rented it anyway since I have always been obsessed with The Dahlia case.I really didn't think it could be that bad...it was one of the worst movies I have ever seen.I did force myself to watch it hoping for the back story that never came.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD

I kind of remember seeing the TV ads for Ulli Lommel's "The Boogey Man"(1980). Those TV ads looked pretty scary IMO. And I know that alot of people probably hate Entertainment Tonight critic Leonard Maltin. In Maltin's TV Movies reference book, I don't agree w/ some of his reviews while the other reviews I do agree w/. However, his TV Movies book always seems to give a good review for Lommel's TBM. I know that Maltin's review says TBM is similar to "Halloween" and "The Exorcist", and maybe it's close to a ripoff. But Maltin's review also talks about actor John Carradine(David's dad) being good in his role. The TV ads showed an interesting scene w/ Carradine as a priest, I think. Carradine and another guy were touching that "haunted" mirror for a scene that looked like "The Exorcist". Although I still haven't seen all of Lommel's "TBM", I remember seeing the first 30 minutes or so on late night TV.

Based on what I did see, Mr. Maltin was right about TBM being similar to John Carpenter's "Halloween" story. But TBM still seemed to have an interesting story about a "haunted" mirror which witnessed a murder. The mirror would become shattered in some way, which would be the setup for the movie's spooky story. I've had an interest to see TBM ever since it first came out in theatres. So all of those reasons, w/ probably more(being a horror fan) are why I want to watch "TBM" on DVD and possibly in a special theatre screening.
