How does this movie have a rating higher than 2?

...Let alone a rating over 7. Saw this on the airplane today (thankfully not wasting any money) and even after seeing the preview I could tell this movie was a joke. With my fiancee next to me and about 10 minutes into the film we both felt that the acting was so bad that we had to watch it for the comedy. Very very low budget film, I hope no more than $5k was spent on it, considering you could pay a 13 year old to produce it. If I remember correctly, every "love" scene (any time it was David and Lehua on screen) played the same song from the exact same point of the track. The "train" they were on towards the end looked like the train ride from the Dole Plantation, which goes around in circles for tourists to view the crops. And how about the beginning when David goes back in time and picks up the early 20th century phone trying to find his hotel and never questions anything about the phone (this is before he realizes he went back to 1911). The way it ended was very odd as well, I much rather it had been a dream instead of an awkward 'I know your great grandma, that's my pendant, you look just like her, let's go out' ending. In a nutshell the acting sucked (could David yell any more?), the production sucked, the plot was horrible (I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be about Duke or the arrogant surfer in a time machine)....I'd much rather prefer a movie dedicated to Duke. Good movie to get people to go to Duke's restaurant though.

You just didn't get it is all.

You're probably more used to stupid porn or horror *beep* so you don't get the value of something simple and sweet.

That's it! The damn porn and horror *beep* I can "get" those films any day!

...sarcasm aside, I guess simple movies go with simple minds is what you're saying? Come on, this movie had zero plot, zero depth, zero character development, etc., and I'm by no means a routine movie critic. So these are MY opinions. If YOU like it, great! To each his/her own. But don't tell me I didn't "get" it.
