Do Not See This Movie

I was in the first audience that saw it in a test screening in September of 2005.

Trust me. Do not see this movie.

reply

You should tell us why. It does, in fact have a 6.1 on here, so please tell us why.

Go MISCHA/Marrissa

reply

I must agree with Gambilljen. Please tell us why you don't think people should see this movie.

reply

I disagree..watch the trailer and you will know this movie is crappolla!!

reply

Movies change alot from test screenings to release. That is why they test movies. Its not to give it away for free its to see what works and what doesn't.

reply

Yeah remember Batman and Robin, totally sucked in the viewers eyes during
some test screenings so they changed a lot afterwards before bringing it on the big screen, too bad it failed in a lot of ways :(

reply

Batman and Robin sucked all together. The batman movie franchise was doomed ever since Michael Keaton left the batman movies. Before you know it, you have Batman with a NEW COSTUME. "Look Ma', my custome allows me to have nipples!"

reply

This person is correct. It sucked. BAD. I saw a press release last night. Okay, for starters, the characters were flat and under-developed, the editing was bad - it didn't flow very well, and it seemed like they were trying to tell the story of a detective whose life is being affected by the Zodiac but you never really believe he's losing it or that he's under any real pressure - there are just a gazillion scenes of him drinking whiskey out of a crystal glass and chain smoking with a quivering lip... no real scenes with substance - like for instance Manhunter (the original adaptation of Red Dragon) is a great example of a detective whose life is affected by his work but this screenplay just didn't follow through with that in this movie. Also the dialogue was so cliche and cheezy. Like the chief of police says to the detective "Look, I want this guy as bad as you do... but we have to play by the rules!" It was this type of worn out boring dialogue the whole way through. I can say that Robin Tunney's costume designer had fun. She had the cutest little 1960s/70s outfits (gag). Also, they tried to show a little of what was going on during the time these killings happened - First man on the moon, etc. - but it just came off as contrived. It was no Son of Sam which had a great story about people dealing with what was happening and living life in the city in the 70s, etc.(awesome movie). Okay, well that's enough bashing. I can say that the first scene was gripping. It definitely started with a bang... too bad it crashed and burned soon after.

Oh you better do what you are told, go and sit in the corner for disobeying.

reply

Well, I like to give movies the benefit of the doubt. And I support all of those here who want to see this movie despite what those have seen it have said. Unfortunately, you will most likely be disappointed, because it is, in fact, crap. I kept hoping for more dialogue among the central family of the detective, but Justin Chambers and Robin Tunney hardly speak to each other. There's all this tension, and then, they do nothing with it, except for one bad "shouting at each other" scene. But everything else aside, the one reason this film will disappoint you is the ending...it came out of nowhere, and had no closure at all for any of the characters involved. I was hoping for something much better. Maybe "Zodiac" will do the case justice.

YOU SHUTUP

i have a few questions, is the killer still 'at large', like in real life? and in the end does the dectective actually go crazy? i thought you might know since you saw it. Thanks!

the zodiac killer was never caught. he is most likely dead now.

The only pic worse than this is "The Zombies of Mora Tau" and at least that one had terrific music.

Nothing exists more beautifully than nothing.

reply

I have never even heard of this movie

reply

ok...so?

~I see a little silhouette of a man, Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango.

reply

It's pretty good, and if you're interested in the Zodiak, you'll like it. It may not be for everyone, however. I saw it in the theaters, and I'll be getting it on DVD when it's released.

reply

never listen to people that say "never see the movie", first of all if you want to see it, just see it for yourself. because a bad movie to some, may be a good movie to you. your taste is different. critics dont know what the heck they are talking about either...saying the movie sucked and stuff...but i think certain movies people say ssucked are good, but sometimes i do agree wiht them...i dont care what these people say, im going to see the movie.

I have never heard a critic say "this movie sucks and stuff". Only tards on message boards say that.

Ooo, baby, your domestic gross is SO BIG. That's how I know how GOOD you are!

reply

you knew what i meant.

reply

first off, i wasn't going to rattle on everything a critic could say about a movie i was just generalizing.

This was *beep* especially that iritating lil kid.You thought macauley culkin was annoying in home alone etc.?Well this brat is right up there with him.I really dont know if its b.s or not but i really cant imagine this kid existed.*SPOILERS*This little 12 year old punk looking through astrological latitude and longitude info in books?Waltzing in his old man's office, pulling down the blinds and trying to de-cyper a cryptic message?!Go play in some traffic kid and don't show your girly face round here again!Really wanna see the other new zodiak film.A very interesting story but somehow they managed to *beep* it up.

reply

I thought it was ok, I'd never heard of the Zodiac Killer so I found it interesting.

reply

The kid is as annoying as Mac Culkin because the kid is his brother. Rory learned how to be irritating from the best, go figure...

reply

At least this isn't as bad as the 1971 film 'The Zodiac Killer', until you see that you guys have nothing to complain about. This film is an instant classic compared to that.

reply

All you need to know is that Justin Chambers is in this film, shouldn't that be enough not to see it?

reply

You nailed it perfectly & it was a very good movie ,I honestly doubt if Fincher will top this because they're supposedly going to blame it all on Arthur Leigh Allen who was cleared by fingerprints & DNA - good post & to the point !

reply

Dont listen to gil it was a decent movie that is definately worth checking out.

reply

What's the big deal? I saw this movie and loved it. It is now apart of my psychopathic thrilling section. The ending sucked? Ha! I thought it was the creepiest part of the whole movie. I thought the dialogue was pretty good too. Nothing cheezy I found in it. This movie kept me awake and focused. But I guess it's only for Zodiac killer fans. Even I am a big fan of the Zodiac killer and have read up alot about him and this movie didn't really get everything accurately and it had it's certain errors of The actual Zodiac killer but none to complain about. Watching this movie made me feel like I was infront of the murders as it happened.

Those who think it's going to suck and never seen it, give it a chance and try to see it from our point of view. And maybe it's best you read up on him before watching this film.

I've booked this on Lovefilms.com dvd rental and should arrive tomorrow or Wednesday. Reading these threads to get an idea and looking forward to seeing it. I have watched films that I have thought were pants and other people loved and vice versa so, because of the difference of opinions, I will give this film a chance and watch it.

I will post back what I thought of it.

reply

i agree!!!...if you are a zodiac historian you will appreciate this film..if not you will not as much...pretty simple really!....cant wait for zodiac coming out in jan.

reply

I saw this movie and absolutely loved it - how could you say it is a horrible movie ?

reply

Probably because people are too ignorant to read up on The Zodiac so they can't really appreciate the way these events were captured compared to the murder cases. I, myself found them to be pretty accurate. They may have missed out a few details but it was pretty close and pretty good in my opinion.

reply

pooch people can say it's a horrible movie because they thought it was a horrible movie, nothing more nothing less.

Just watched it this evening, and thought it was pretty meh to be honest. The makers go nowhere with the characters, but a pretty chilling expierance antagonist wise.
