Spanglish dubbed into Spanish WTF? Why?

Maybe my fellow spanish speaking friends have seen this disaster in A&E latin America, Latin TNT etc.
Spanglish in spanish? really? I've always hated dubbed movies but by far this is the worst case I've seen in my life!
The characters that are supposed to speak english speak spanish with a heavy stereotypical american accent, and Flor is just a mute dum-dumb who seems not to understand even spanish.

The worst scene is when Flor debates with John Clasky about the sea glass money! She screams in spanish and her daughter is supposed to translate to english but in this pathetic attempt she just repeats what she says! agggghh! is so pathetically annoying!

That's a horrible idea, but then again, dubbing is always pointless. Hopefully, Spanish-speakers who watch a foreign film would opt for subtitles instead, but I may be wrong.

all of my family in mexico HATE dubbed movies. the voices sound so awful! they always go for subtitles. besides, hearing the actors speak english helps my lil cousins with their english hw haha

I'm IN about dubbing movies, but this wasn't the case. This mustn't be dubbed cuz then loses the feeling and the sense. (:

I caught a horrifying five-minute exposure to this monstrosity while channel-hopping. Five minutes, because that's how long it took me to recover from how stunningly inane it was and change the channel (I think the remote fell from my nerveless hand and rolled under the sofa.) It was a glimpse into an alternate-reality vortex of pure, undiluted stupidity that leaves me reeling to this day. This is a movie which takes the mutual incomprehensibility of its protagonists' languages as its central premise: its very title for God's sake. The idea of dubbing it would have been at least minimally salvageable had they done a complete 180 and dubbed Paz Vega into an English speaker. But turning the whole thing into Spanish makes about as much sense as dubbing it into Czech (and only Czech.) Or Braille, for that matter.

You are right, it can't be taken seriously when the characters speak in Spanish with a dumb american accent, and throw ramdom words in English once in a while. They are speaking in Spanish and suddenly say "excuse me" or "sorry".

1. You do understand, don't you as someone who speaks Spanish, that not every Spanish speaker who would view the movie would understand the English.

2. And I KNOW that you understand that Castilian is somewhat different from South American Spanish.

3. And I DON'T know why, with an $80-million budget, that they couldn't get the
movie dubbed into better Spanish.

I watched this movie for the first time in the dubbed version a few days ago, and decided to see it again in the original version because the dubbed was full of mistakes and some dialogues made no sense, like the stones discussion and the unnecesary anglo style now for my luck I found it in FOX and all make sense.

The dubbed was horrible, even my wife who does not speaks english didn't like the dubbed version, we are latin americans.

As you said they could do a better dubbing like other films did in the same situation.

It's a good movie anyway.

Since the movie was dubbed in Mexico for all Latin America, at least Flor is finally gonna sound like a Mexican woman
