Chum!

First, my quick thoughts on this movie. I'm a 31 year old male, who's probably negative on the Kinsey scale. Accordingly, I hate Romantic comedies, chick flicks, and even basic human dramas. I like action, sci-fi, and 'guy' movies'.

That said, I LOVED Spanglish! The screenplay/dialogue was awesome, the characters were engaging, complex interactions between them was very well constructed, and acting was very genuine...great job by Sandler, Paz Vega, Tea Leone, even the kids.

However, the none of them's got nothing on my boy CHUM!!! That big furry *beep* is a goddamned superstar. The scene where he's harassing Flor to play fetch deserves the first ever Oscar for a non-human! Also the scene where Flor emphatically tells him "goodbye chum" (when all he wanted in life was to chase a chewed up tennis ball)...that scene signified Flor's sadness at leaving not only the job but also the whole family. I think I teared up a little during that scene while screaming "Nooooooooo" and biting my blanket. Seriously, Chum for President!

Ok. Now I'm off to club some baby seals and kick a few puppies to feel manly again.
