Paz Vega was miscast... forget about her physical appearance

She's a lovely lady and has done so much better in other films (Like "Lucía y el Sexo") but shs didn't do a good job in this movie at all, I didn't buy for a second she was a Mexican woman. And all the people praising her accent are either deaf, ignorant or delusional. She sounds like a woman from Spain, her accent isn't mexican at all. And this is very distracting

The differences between the two accents are more than just the way we pronounce the Z, the C, and the S. There are very little details that Paz Vega simply chose to ignore. In contrast Oscar Jaenada was much better playing Cantinflas

Not to be rude but I don't think the producers and casting agents could care less about her Mexican accident, or the lack there of. They were looking for someone who would look good next to Adam Sandler and the other major Hollywood stars. Someone who would sell tickets internationally and make them money.

You're talking about authenticity, but when has Hollywood ever been authentic?

It's so cute that you think they could possible care tho...

1) the fact that they don't care is the very reason I opened this thread

2) ANYONE can look good next to Adam Sandler. But why would they hire a SPANISH actress and not a MEXICAN actress? It's not like Paz Vega is very known outside of the spanish market anyways. She's less popular than Salma Hayek

3) I can still adress this kind of misrepresentation. That's why black people made the hashtag oscarssowhite

Mexican Actors get cast as Spanish characters too, anybody that is Latino will get cast as a Latino character even if they are different Nationality I don't if there is exactly a misrepresentation,certainly not like the Oscars which is a problem.

There is a already limited amount of roles for Latino and Spanish Actors in Hollywood ,I doubt any of them wanna be denied a role because they are not Mexican,Spanish,Guatemalan,Argentinian,Dominican ETC. Thats just my thought

Like Tea Leoni said in the film, she’s absolutely gorgeous to look at it, but her accent is distracting...for those who can speak or understand Spanish. In fact, it’s even more distracting to the ear when all the Spanish speakers around her clearly have a different speaking rhythm and fully enunciated seseo (non-lisp). It’s almost as if sometimes she doesn’t even try when you hear her Sevillan accent slip out. She even argues and bickers like a Spaniard. Although, film has been jumbling up accents in since its integration of audio. Narcos is the most recent example I can think of that of that uses Mexican actors and even a Brazilian (Wagner Moira - the lead - Pablo Escobar) to play Colombians.
