How old was Shinkai when he made this?

IMDb doesn't have Makoto Shinkai's birthdate, so I don't know how old he was when he did this on his laptop. I've heard he was pretty young, still in his twenties. I saw an interview with him on the ADV DVD of The Place Promised in our Early Days (one of the greatest movies ever made), and he still looked pretty young (he's kind of cute, actually), but I'm a horrible judge of telling how old someone is just by looking at them.

Anyone know for sure?

You have to consider that Japanese people usually look younger than they actually are, so who knows.

he was born in 1973, so he was 29 when he finished this. the guy must have an incredible work ethic, but also lots of raw talent. i read he spent 5 years doing CG cut scenes for video games
