Have you seen "Grave of the Fireflies"? Now that is some very depressing anime! Check it out!

if thats the sadest anime u saw, then you no nothing about animes

reply

You really can not know that many animes to find this sad. Unless you mean sad in the pathetic sense.
A film as long as a series' episode can't offer much depth.
And frankly I've been more moved by animes that don't even come across as tragedies; for example FMA when Hughes died.

How can someone compare the loss of two innocent children to this movie? Sure it has a very sad story line but compared to Grave of the fireflies it's just mildly upsetting. Nothing is sadder then Grave of the fireflies. Maybe dancer in the dark but it's a close second. THis is a bit further down from the saddest list....

Boogie Woogie Feng Shui

I agree!
Grave of the fireflies is by far the saddest anime I've seen. That movie gets to you everytime you watch it.
This was a beautiful movie as well.

Grave of the fireflies definitely takes the cake for saddest anime I've seen. Tears me up every time.

I've seen animes that is more depressing and sad than grave of the fireflies but sure it's pretty sad but it never really moved me. Some things I've watched have kept me depressed for a week but grave of the fireflies never accomplished that. I'll give this "movie" a chance now.

Santa Claus is more real than god. I have seen him on several occasions.

Haven't seen this movie but i doubt there are many sadder than Grave of the Fireflies. Barefoot Gen is pretty sad but has sort of an upbeat tone and semi happy ending oddly enough.

I don't know why, but Grave of the Fireflies never did much for me. I guess the characters were to pathetic for me (I mean that they were too passive, not the little girl though) for me to care much about them. Either way, I never quite figured out why Grave of the Fireflies didn't move me as much.

I don't think you have to disregard someone's feelings when watching an anime just because you assume he hasn't seen much of them. That's not very fair on them, they're his or her emotions after all, it's not like you can change them.

I was very, very moved to the point of tears when watching this little anime, and I was in a room full of people. I don't know, I think it's the concept of the distance their texts had to travel but she still bothers to send them, despite not having seen him for years and knowing that those texts will take ages to reach him. Maybe it's because I know what this situation is like, what distance between people is like. It's horrible and this movie conveyed that in a very simple way.

Both Grave of the Fireflies and 5 Centimeters Per Second were far sadder.

It's difficult to find a movie particularly sad with bad late 90s video game graphics.
