Was Lydia's husband and brother lovers? i recall after her shotgun wedding, her husband was reluctant to make love to her, and her brother killed himself soon after Lydia's husband died in WWII, I remember him saying he lost his only love, I think Lydia thought it was a woman. I also remember Lydia and her daughter found a picture of the two guys hinting there was a relationship going on. Can someone clue me in?

I believe that the two men were lovers. Lydia didn't rumble that until she saw that she had been cut off the photograph of the three of them together.

The way that the two men had their arms around each other on the photograph seems to suggest that they were more than just best friends. Also I suppose we should have had our suspicions when the two men were naked together by the edge of the water early in the movie.
